Job Overview

The School of Education in the College of Education, Criminal Justice, and Human Services at the University of Cincinnati (UC) invites applications for a full-time Assistant Professor-Educator (non-tenure track) with primary responsibilities in the Educational Leadership program and focused on K-12 educational leadership and policy issues. We seek candidates with experience in areas such as school leadership and reform, higher education leadership, finance, law, change management, instructional leadership, equity and inclusion, community engagement, or other similar areas that speak directly to the challenges facing today’s educational leaders. The position is expected to begin August 15, 2023.

The Educational Leadership & Policy Studies program at UC includes four degree-granting degree programs: 1) a thriving principal preparation program—including both a master's and graduate certificate; 2) an Ed.D. in Educational Leadership with a focus on both K-12 education and higher education; 3) a Ph.D. with a concentration in Educational Policy & Higher Education; and 4) a master’s degree with a concentration in higher education administration. While this position will focus primarily on K-12 education, we invite applicants to join a collaborative program that focuses on leadership and policy in K-12 and postsecondary settings.

Essential Functions
  • Teaching online and face-to-face master’s and doctoral level courses in the Educational Leadership program within the candidate’s area(s) of expertise.
  • Preparing field practitioners to lead in various school, institutional, and education-oriented organizational settings.
  • Advising master's and doctoral students across programs and concentrations.
  • Supporting the Educational Leadership program through service to the department (e.g., attending departmental meetings and taking leadership opportunities to develop and grow K-12 and higher education areas, etc.), and working with colleagues on program, school, and college service activities.
  • Working with existing faculty on the growth and expansion of the Ed.D. program.
  • Displaying a collaborative spirit and a desire to work with fellow faculty members, other academic programs, local community agencies, and local, state, and national educational and professional organizations and associations.
  • Demonstrating a commitment to educational equity and a desire to support the mission of a large, urban, research-intensive institution.
  • Demonstrating interests in urban education and/or minority-serving institutions.
Minimum Requirements

Prior to effective date of appointment (except as noted):

  • Doctoral degree in educational leadership, policy, administration, or a closely related field.
  • Two academic years of university level teaching experience in Educational Leadership or Education courses in general.
  • Two academic years of experience advising master’s students in the area of K-16 leadership or policy study or advising doctoral students in their research, which could have been concurrent to teaching experience.
  • Three research-oriented professional presentations, beyond the dissertation defense, in academic or practitioner-based settings, related to K-12 educational leadership and postsecondary education, policy, equity, or a related field.
  • A minimum of 3 years of professional experience in K-12 public school, college/university, or education agency.
  • Professional experience can also extend to foundation or governmental work related to education.
