Assistant/Associate/ Professor of Computer Science

The Department of Mathematics and Data Science invites applications for a full-time tenure-track Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor of Computer Science. The successful applicant will teach undergraduate courses in Computer Science and related courses in Data Science and will develop the computer science major at William Jewell College.

William Jewell College is a four-year, private, residential liberal arts college with enrollment of just under 1,000 full-time students who enjoy all the amenities of a small-town campus setting with big-city access. Just 20 minutes from Kansas City, the 200-acre campus is perched above the historic town of Liberty among the rolling hills of western Missouri.

Duties and Responsibilities

Essential duties include:

• Collaborate with existing data science faculty to develop a computer science program and teach Computer Science courses
• Teach 5 courses for the academic year, including undergraduate computer science and undergraduate data science classes in data visualization, machine learning, or statistics
• Maintain an active scholarly program, preferably incorporating undergraduate students (securing external grant funding is not expected)
• Contribute to the College and the community through service on committees and other activities
• Be willing to contribute to the Core Curriculum
• Advise undergraduate students

Qualifications

An earned doctorate in computer science, data science, or related field, or plans to earn such a degree by August 2023. It is also preferable that the applicant have experience teaching computer science or data science in higher education.
