The Department of Psychological Sciences at the University of Connecticut in Storrs invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor within the Behavioral Neuroscience program. We seek a candidate with demonstrated scholarly interest in translational neuroscience using cutting-edge, laboratory-based techniques (e.g., optogenetics, chemo-genetics, calcium imaging, molecular/genetic methods, high-density electrophysiological recording techniques) examining function within brain circuits in animal models.
We are particularly interested in applicants whose research, theoretically, logistically, quantitatively can link to UConn’s strengths in physiology and neurobiology, pharmacy, systems neuroscience, cognitive science, computation, data science, engineering and faculty within our Institute for Brain and Cognitive Sciences. The successful candidate will share a commitment to teaching and mentoring undergraduate and graduate students within the Psychological Sciences Department.
The Psychological Sciences Department includes Ph.D. programs in Behavioral Neuroscience, Clinical, Developmental, Ecological, I/0, Language and Cognition, and Social Psychology. There are currently 58 full-time faculty and 130 full-time doctoral students. The Department and University have a commitment to pursuing an inclusive excellence.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS A Ph.D. in psychological sciences/neuroscience or related field with at least one year of post-doctoral experience. Equivalent foreign degrees are acceptable. A vibrant research program capable of integrating with existing UConn faculty including those within the Behavioral Neuroscience Program and/or within the Institute of Brain and Cognitive Sciences.Commitment to teaching and mentoring undergraduate and graduate students within the Psychological Sciences DepartmentAbility to contribute to the diversity and excellence of the learning experience and academic community through research, teaching, and/or service.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS A record of peer-reviewed publications and evidence of (or promise of) obtaining external research support.Evidence of excellence in support of teaching and mentoring undergraduate students.Ability to integrate/strengthen the graduate program in Behavioral NeuroscienceAbility to integrate with one/more faculty in graduate programs with the Department of Psychological Sciences or related UConn graduate (e.g., Physiology & Neurobiology, Speech Language and Hearing Sciences, Pharmacology and/or Biomedical Engineering) programs.
This appointment is a full-time, 9-month, tenure-track position with an anticipated start date of August 23, 2023. The successful candidate’s academic appointment will be at the Storrs campus. Salary and rank will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
