Instructor of English/ CLASS

The CLASS Department is looking for a full-time English instructor to teach classes in our Undergraduate Writing Sequence, which includes two courses of freshman composition and technical writing. The teaching load is four class sections per semester. Responsibilities include delivering lessons, commenting on and grading student work, and conferencing with students. The instructor will also participate in informal writing program meetings to discuss pedagogical techniques, lesson planning, and grading strategies.

An MA or MFA in English, Communication, or related field by January 1, 2023, with experience teaching college-level composition courses, and an ability to support student academic success by engaging and encouraging students from diverse academic, socioeconomic, and cultural backgrounds. A background teaching technical writing and/or to students in the STEM fields is preferred. 

Communication, Liberal Arts, and Social Sciences is a vibrant multidisciplinary department of scholars from Technical Communication, Science & Technology Studies, Philosophy, Spanish, History, and Composition Studies. In addition to supporting a strong BS program in Technical Communication, BS/BA in Psychology, and MS in Public Engagement, department faculty teach general education courses tailored to the needs of the student body and participate in interdisciplinary research efforts.
