The School of Education & Human Development will establish and maintain a pool of Lecturers for future appointments to temporary, part-time, non-tenure-track positions. Lecturers are limited to two courses per term. This will be a semester-by-semester appointment, with the possibility of renewal. This temporary Lecturer pool is anticipated to remain continuously active through 2022 - at that point, all applications will be cleared from the pool. The School of Education and Human Development at the University of Colorado Denver is a highly collaborative program that includes university faculty and P-12 educators and community members. Located in the heart of downtown Denver, whose population is increasingly diverse (32% Latino, 11% African American), the SEHD, accredited by NCATE, has taken a leadership role in preparing professionals to work in diverse schools, agencies and related settings. The SEHD emphasizes diverse collaborative partnerships including PK-12 schools, local communities, businesses, government agencies, private foundations, and other universities and colleges.

Job Responsibilities:

The purpose of this posting is to expand our pool of Lecturers available to teach courses. These are temporary, part-time Lecturer positions, as we build our capacity to offer quality instruction to all students in the School of Education and Human Development.

Teaching assignments may fluctuate and are contingent upon the schedule of courses offered each term, the required number of student enrollments in your tentatively scheduled course(s), and budget availability. Thus, we cannot guarantee that you will teach particular courses or that you will actually teach in a given term.

HDFR Teaching Courses

The HDFR Program focuses family diversity and social justice across the ecological life span. We are the first HDFR/HDFS program in North America to teach bilingual English and Spanish courses and one of the few programs that focuses on family diversity and social justice in North America. The HDFR Program is seeking out lecturers to teach in our undergraduate HDFR BS program. We are seeking individuals who can teach courses in human development, family relations and family diversity. We interested in hiring individuals who can teach courses during the day, evening and some online.

Examples of Courses titles in Spring 2022:
  • HDFR 1000: Global Human Development and Learning
  • HDFR 1010: Life Span Development in Ecological Settings
  • HDFR 2110: Child Ecology (Child Development)
  • HDFR 2200: Love, Family and Human Development
  • HDFR 3250: Families in Global Perspectives
  • HDFR 3400: Love, Couples and Families.

Salary and Benefits:

The hiring rate for this position has been established at $4,500 (increasing to $4,750 beginning in Fall 2022), for a fully enrolled 3 credit course. Please note that under enrolled courses may be canceled and pay is prorated for under enrolled courses that have not been canceled.

The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training.

The above salary range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

This part-time appointment is not eligible for group health, life insurance, and retirement benefits.

This position is not eligible for overtime compensation.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
    Significant successful teaching or work experience in K-12 or with individuals, children, families and communities. The potential to teach HDFR undergraduate course. At a minimum, an earned master's degree in relevant content area.

Undergraduate Lecturer Minimum Qualifications
    M.A. or M.S. in Education, Human Development, Family Relations, Counseling and Couples and Family Therapy/Marriage and Family Therapy or Master's of Social Work. B.A. or B.S. in Human Development, Family Relations, or a closely related discipline, AND a M.A. or M.S. in any field in addition to at least 18 graduate level credit hours in Education, Human Development and Family Relations or closely related degree. If the Master's Degree is in an unrelated field, the candidate must have a minimum of 5 years of successful experience in the field related to the course documented on the CV. Candidates need to supply some evidence (e.g., subject matter expertise or leadership expertise) of experience.

Desired Qualifications:
    M.A. or M.S. in Education, Human Development, Family Relations, Counseling and Couples and Family Therapy/Marriage and Family Therapy or Master's of Social Work. Experience teaching at the undergraduate level. Experience teaching online or with blended/hybrid models
