Job Description: 

 POSITION SUMMARY

 The Adjunct –Information Technology Support Technician position provides quality instructionand maintains a positive learning environment in the classroom, with majoremphasis placed on teaching, supporting and evaluating students. The Adjunctrole provides instruction and monitors teaching/learning effectiveness incourses assigned by the Department Chair, or other leadership members. Theincumbent must exhibit strong organizational skills and the ability tomultitask while engaging large groups of people with complicated material.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Instruction & StudentLearning

Teaches assigned courses asscheduled. Designs curriculum embracing diversity, in all forms, to fostertalent in students while modeling inclusive teaching strategies, with anunderstanding of the socio-cultural issues of traditionally underrepresentedgroups. Considers individual differences of students in order to design andsupport a range of appropriate learning activities.

Participates in theidentification of students with academic or other needs and responds byutilizing an appropriate resource. Uses technology in a manner appropriate tothe nature and objectives of courses and programs and communicates clearly tostudents the expectations concerning the use of such technology. Keeps accurateand appropriate records in accordance with departmental policies.

Maintains attendance records,determines and submits grades timely and in accordance with establishedpolicies and procedures of the College, and communicates progress feedback aswell as other relevant information to students throughout the semester.
Distributes and maintainaccurate syllabi that incorporates departmental, college, cross-college, andinstructor requirements.

Conducts classes punctually andin accordance with the prescribed meeting schedule. Employs appropriateassessment techniques to measure students’ performance in achieving coursegoals and objectives. Engages in periodic meetings with the department, LeadInstructor, and Chairperson relative to teaching duties and professionaldevelopment.

Student Engagement & Advisement

 Creates a positive classroomatmosphere that encourages active and collaborative learning, student effort,academic challenge, student and faculty interaction, and support for learners.Uses technology to assist in communication with students. Encourages a sense ofcommunity among students for learning both inside and outside the classroom.

Refers students to appropriatestudent and academic support services available at the College or in thecommunity.

MINIMUM EDUCATION ANDEXPERIENCE REQUIRED

Bachelor's degree with at leasttwo (2) years of recent professional experience and skills with Windowstechnical support, Linux, scripting, networking, or public cloudimplementation.

LICENSESAND CERTIFICATIONS


State Motor Vehicle Operator's License or demonstrableability to gain access to work site(s).

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, &ABILITIES

Knowledge of: online instruction techniques and methods;Microsoft Office; requisite or willing to gain requisite computer skills neededfor Blackboard and/or other student support systems; internet research; onlinecommunication and record-keeping.

Skill in: providing quality instruction; learningtechnologies and the use of multi-media technology to enhance student learning;instructional planning and presentation; incorporating critical thinking,effective communication and other general education outcomes in course content;effective time management; proficiency with online communication;record-keeping.

Ability to: effectivelycommunicate and use interpersonal skills; create engaging learning environmentsthat respect a wide variety of viewpoints; be sensitive to the needs andconcerns of a diverse student population, socio-economic, cultural and ethnicbackgrounds and students with disabilities; work independently without ongoingdirect supervision; meet deadlines; perform student learning outcomes; maintainconfidential and sensitive information, including FERPA.
