Description:
The rapidly growing Dale E. and Sarah Ann Fowler School of Engineering at Chapman University invites applications for a Postdoctoral Fellow position in Electrical or Electronic Engineering.
This postdoctoral position funded by the National Science Foundation is available immediately for highly motivated individuals to join Dr. Etezad’s research group. The project is focused on developing a novel braille tactile display for visually impaired individuals to improve the current limitations on cost, speed, ease of reading, and accuracy of such tactile displays. This is a critical role to develop novel assistive technology for people with vision loss and learning key fundamentals that can be used to develop leading advanced products. The ideal candidate should have a strong background in Electronics and microcontrollers, the ability to work collaboratively and independently, and a solid record of publications.

Responsibilities:
The postdoctoral researcher will conduct independent research and/or collaborate on this particular NSF research project; provide guidance and support to undergraduate students associated with the related projects; document research activities and publish key findings in high-quality, peer-reviewed journals.
Qualifications:
- Applicants must hold a doctoral or equivalent degree in engineering, electrical engineering, or related fields before the start date of the appointment.
- Candidates with strong knowledge of electronics, microcontrollers, and programming skills are strongly encouraged to apply.
- We are looking for individuals who are passionate to expand their knowledge concerning the application of electronics for sensors, actuators, and instrumentation in order to enable the best solution for the respective problems that people with disabilities face.

This is a one-year assignment to begin in Fall 2022. Successful completion of a background check is required for the final candidate. This position is subject to final budget approval. The salary range for this Postdoctoral Research Fellow position is $64,500-$70,000.
