Job Description:


Germanna Community College is a public, open access institution of higher education in the Virginia Community College System. The College is a dynamic learning organization that serves as a Germanna regional leader and preferred partner where quality learning experiences enable students to participate effectively in the social, economic, political, intellectual, and cultural life of their communities. Germanna Community College is centrally located in Fredericksburg, VA between Washington D.C. and Richmond and between the Blue Ridge mountains and the Chesapeake Bay. Full of history, the area offers a community rich with diversity, the arts, technology, vineyards, hiking, canoeing/kayaking and many other activities.
Working in partnership with local CTE education experts, the primary purpose of the Regional Career Technical Education Coordinator (RCTEC) is to provide leadership in the development, implementation, and support of the regional school divisions' work-based learning programs. This position is responsible for designing and expanding work-based learning opportunities for the Caroline County, Fredericksburg City, King George County, Spotsylvania County, Stafford County School Divisions in cooperation with Germanna Community College. This position responds to the diverse needs of each school division.

The RCTEC position is focused on interdisciplinary, equitable secondary instructional work-based learning opportunities while supporting the Profile of a Virginia Graduate as it pertains to student achievement, demonstration of workplace skills and career opportunities.

The RCTEC serves to develop and maintain partnerships among the regional school divisions, local businesses, and organizations with the goal of providing students meaningful opportunities to connect classroom instruction with career goals. This position works to align business and educational definitions of work-based learning.

This position will also seek support and partnerships as well as state resources for work-based learning opportunities. This classified full-time position with benefits is supported through December 31, 2023.

Special Assignments:
May be required to perform other duties as assigned. May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.


KSA's/Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in related field or related experience, minimum of three (3) years of experience working with high school students from different cultural heritages and identities
  • Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion including demonstrated experience developing and managing recruitment and/or retention-based programs for historically underrepresented and marginalized students
  • Knowledge of effective strategies for working with diverse faculty, staff, and students
  • Understanding of use of current and emerging technologies to enhance instruction
  • Knowledge of regional, state, and national job projections meant to influence course pathway offerings
  • Passion for region, work-based learning, and students


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master’s Degree preferred, in related field from an accredited college or university.
  • Five or more years of experience in Higher Education, K-12 Education, or related field
  • Experience with Career Technical Education
  • Experience with Work-Based Learning
  • Experience with Dual Enrollment
  • Experience with grant writing or grant management
  • Demonstrated knowledge for assessing and reporting learning outcomes
