The Office of Medical Education has an opening for a full-time University Staff (unclassified) Open Rank Academic Services Intermediate Professional – Principal Professional/Longitudinal Curriculum Coordinator position.

Who We Are

Undergraduate Medical Education (UME), housed within the School of Medicine's Office of Medical Education, encompasses medical students first four years of Medical School. UME underwent a curriculum reform and the new curriculum called "Trek" launched July 2021 with the arrival of our first graduating class of 2025. The update of our curriculum is a process that has engaged close to 600 faculty, staff, and students and has been developed through an ongoing process since October 2017. As such, this is an exciting time to join UME and help continue the reformed curriculum's success, with the goal to educate physicians who are curious, life-long learners with the commitment to serve the profession, our patients and society.

Nature of Work

The Longitudinal Curriculum Coordinator will work closely with Curriculum Directors in the planning, coordination, and administration of the University of Colorado School of Medicine (CUSOM) Mentored Scholarly Activity Program, Global Health Track, and the Research Track in Undergraduate Medical Education (UME). This will include soliciting funds to support the Research Track, managing student stipends and procurement transactions, developing guidelines and procedures, tracking student completion of requirements, maintaining program information, abstracting/organizing data for curriculum reports, maintaining curricular website content, and providing information and guidance to faculty and students about these programs. This position will contribute to the ongoing development, analysis and evaluation of existing and proposed processes. Additionally, this position will work collaboratively with other staff members in the School of Medicine.

Supervision Received

This position reports to the Post-Clerkship (Alpine/Summit) Curriculum Program Manager in the School of Medicine. The position has a dotted line reporting to the Assistant Dean of Medical Education leading the Post Clerkship (Alpine/Summit) student curriculum.

Supervision Exercised

No direct supervision. While there is no direct supervision, the individual in this role must be able

to influence and implement initiatives without direct reporting structures.

Ability to work a hybrid remote schedule with up to 3 days a week remote. Additional on-site days may be required when sessions, on-site meetings, or events necessitate an additional on-site presence. Please see the campus-wide policy for additional information.

Examples of Work Performed

  • Build strong relationships in the Undergraduate Medical Education program with staff, peers, faculty leadership, and Assistant Deans to support the success of the program. Work cross-functionally to identify efficiencies and for successful implementation.

  • Develop, implement and manage courses for the Mentored Scholarly Activity, Research, and Global Health Track. Provide student support and technical support. Answer questions, schedule sessions and activities both in-person and via Zoom and ensure a productive learning environment for faculty and students.

  • Assists in the recruitment and application processes in the Global Health Track. Collect and collate application materials to assist faculty leadership in the evaluation of applicants.

  • Facilitate meetings with leadership including keeping meeting minutes and following up on action items to ensure timely completion.

  • Coordinate enrollment, attendance, grading and completion of core courses and electives, and work with the University's Learning Management System to complete needed course requirements.

  • Coordinate with stakeholders including students, faculty, staff and course directors to schedule activities, sessions and events, including the annual Capstone Event and annual Research Forum. Reserve space, procure needed materials and facilitate poster session and annual award processes.

  • Books travel for students for applicable conferences and study abroad opportunities and submit student reimbursements. Procure necessary goods and services and process payments to suppliers.

  • Ensure Research Track student stipends are executed in a timely manner for qualified research months.

  • Recruit new funding sources in collaboration with campus departments. Maintain relationships and provide data to department partners to demonstrate return on investment.

  • Analyze current processes for efficiencies. Create, review and update standard operating procedures and related website pages. Submit proposals for process improvements to leadership and implement aligned efficiencies.

Minimum Qualifications

Intermediate Professional:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.

  • One (1) year of professional experience working in a related role.

Substitution: A combination of work experience in the occupational field or specialized subject area of the work assigned to the job, may substitute for the degree on a year for year basis.

Senior Professional:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.

  • Two (2) years of professional experience working in a related role.

Substitution: A combination of work experience in the occupational field or specialized subject area of the work assigned to the job, may substitute for the degree on a year for year basis.

Principal Professional:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.

  • Three (3) years of professional experience working in a related role.

Substitution: A combination of work experience in the occupational field or specialized subject area of the work assigned to the job, may substitute for the degree on a year for year basis.

Required: Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

Preferred Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office software, especially Outlook and Excel. Must be confident in data entry and report generation to drive business decisions.

  • Displays analytical and critical thinking skills to assist in resolving complex problems. Independently seeks solutions with minimal supervision or external input required.

  • Strong skills in project management and change management are required. Must be able to help navigate multiple stakeholder groups through an exciting and evolving new curriculum.

  • Effective and timely communications, with expectations of responses within two business days of email receipt.

  • Exemplary organization, presentation, and leadership skills with an ability to work with little supervision independently and as a member of a team.

Salary and Benefits

The salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established at:

  • Academic Services Principal Professional: $56,007-$71,241

  • Academic Services Senior Professional: $48,701-61,948

  • Academic Services Professional: $45,049-$57,302

The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training.

The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

This position is not eligible for overtime compensation.
