The Department of Medicine, Division of Infectious Diseases has an opening for a full-time Instructor, Clinical Research Nurse Practitioner.

Nature of Work

The full-time Research Nurse Practitioner position with the AIDS Clinical Trials Unit (ACTU) will conduct clinical research coordination, care, and recruitment for HIV/AIDS and COVID-19 research studies under the research direction of Dr. Thomas Campbell.

Examples of Work Performed

The duties and responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to:
    Assist with and oversee the day to day operations of clinical trials and studies Act as a Primary Coordinator on multiple trials/studies Coordinate and administer patient care in compliance with protocol requirements. Ensures the integrity and quality of clinical research activities are maintained and conducted in accordance with federal, state, and local regulations, and Institutional policies and procedures. Obtain study subject's medical history and current medication information, reviews research protocol inclusion/exclusion criteria, and confirms eligibility of subject to participate in clinical trial. Ensures that the informed consent process has occurred, is properly documented, and filed as required. Administer investigational drug and provide patient education regarding administration Assist with adverse events assessments and promptly notifies appropriate parties; e.g. Principal Investigator, Study Sponsor, DAIDS, and Regulatory Manager as applicable. Independently perform study related processes, procedures, and assessments as defined in study protocol and in compliance with regulating bodies Order appropriate lab tests and medical procedures by coordinating with ancillary medical departments in order to fulfill study defined evaluations while assuming responsibility to assure that all samples and procedures are completed correctly. Perform physical exams, phlebotomy and assist in obtaining compartmental samples such as genital secretions and spinal fluid. Serve as a resource and participate in study start-up, monitoring and close out meetings. Assist with developing protocol-specific systems and documents including process flows, training manuals, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Source Documents. Oversee the preparation of orders by physicians to assure that protocol compliance is maintained. Independently review patients for changes in condition, adverse events, concomitant medication use, protocol compliance, response to study drug and thoroughly document and report all findings to physician and care team

The Instructor will not supervise other employees.

Salary and Benefits

The salary range (or hiring range) has been established at $100,000 to $120,000.

The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training.

The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications

Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.
    Requires a master's degree in nursing (MSN) Active or eligible for nurse practitioner licensure in the State of Colorado 2-year prior experience in clinical nursing



Preferred Qualifications
    5-year work experience in a clinical research setting Familiarity with FDA, OHRP, GCP, International Council for Harmonization of Technical Requirements for Pharmaceuticals (ICH), and HIPAA regulations
