The College of Professional Advancement at Mercer University seeks qualified applicants for a tenure-track, full-time, nine-month faculty position with administrative/leadership responsibilities in its Department of Counseling, Atlanta, GA. The position start date is January (preferably) or August, 2023.

JOB DESCRIPTION

The successful candidate will demonstrate outstanding effectiveness in interactive teaching and student engagement; maintain a rigorous program of scholarly work related to the Department of Counseling graduate degree programs; demonstrate enthusiasm and effectiveness as a mentor to graduate counseling students engaged in research at the doctoral level; engage in intrusive advising and curriculum development/assessment; work collegially with other faculty; demonstrate engagement and collaboration within the university; and demonstrate the capacity for developing strong partnerships within the community to ensure outstanding student outcomes. Demonstrated knowledge of CACREP expectations and standards, experience linking course and program content and outcomes to CACREP standards, experience in development and implementation of program effectiveness assessment plans, and experience with the CACREP accreditation process are required. Additionally, the successful candidate is a member of the faculty (rank commensurate with experience) who will also hold an administrative appointment related to managing the clinical mental health counseling program.

The position's teaching responsibilities include face-to-face, blended/hybrid, and a limited number of online graduate courses. Supervision of clinical field experiences, guidance of student research leading to publications and presentations at academic conferences, and participation on doctoral committees are expected. Additional duties include academic advising, research and scholarship, college and university service, accreditation-related activities, and other duties as assigned by the Department Chair or Dean.

The position's program coordinator responsibilities include working closely with the Department Chair in the day-to-day program operations, assisting students toward successful term-by-term progression and graduation, partnering with enrollment management to enroll qualified students, assisting the Department Chair in staffing courses.

Qualifications

The successful candidate must have an earned doctorate degree in Counselor Education and Supervision or a related field from a regionally accredited university and a CACREP-accredited program, with certification/license as a Licensed Professional Counselor or license and/or certified eligible in Georgia, as well as an approved clinical supervisor credential.

Preferred qualifications include specialized knowledge and experience related to clinical mental health counseling, individual and group counseling, multicultural counseling, collaborative consultation, testing and assessment, counseling theory, and grant proposal writing; experience with statewide licensure/certification processes; strong interpersonal and organizational skills.

Candidates should also possess: teaching experience with demonstrated results and a clear clinical mental health counselor educator identity. Candidates must be able to teach any of the core counseling courses as well as those in the clinical mental health counseling specialty area as evidenced in teaching, research, and other professional experiences. Experience and a commitment to working with and teaching adult learners from diverse populations are expected.
