Our focus is on nourishing the Cal community, both for physical and social well-being, through customer-driven programs, culinary excellence and campus social responsibility.

Responsibilities

Operational Systems Support
    Assist with the management of the Menu Management System and pos systems for Dining Services. Assist with the management of the training program for the menu management system as well as the pos systems Conduct one-on-one and general classroom training sessions as required. Monitor end users to ensure proper system usage. Coordinate bar code and scanning of all products for dining. Coordinate pos key configuration and screen layout to ensure efficiencies for end users. Update pricing information for all productions and locations. Ensure Menu Management System tasks for performed accurately and timely, including: forecasting, inventory, inventory analysis, food cost reports, weekly production run, operating calendar maintenance, nutritional analysis and recipe and inventory maintenance.

Trend and Data Analysis
    Gathers and analyzes financial and other resource data; prepares reports or analyses of operational activities (i.e. usage, patron/sales counts, eating patterns and trends, food cost, pre- and post-cost variations, inventory, purchasing, etc), evaluation of current and proposed services, etc. Verify and confirm input and detailed pre- and post- cost analysis for all menus for all Dining Service operations happen as per agreed upon schedule. Reviews weekly inventory variance and identifies anomalies. Assists management as needed in the development of efficient and cost containing processes. Run reports which tracks accounts payable, data entry, and reconciliation of accounts. Investigate issues as required and report on findings. Conducts inventory and food cost trends analyses and helps develop resulting recommendations.

Administrative Support
    Functions as a resource on issues such as researching menu management system discrepancies, escalated problems and other user concerns from Cal Dining units. Participates in Unit meetings or any group meetings. Provides back up resource for the Administrative Assistants within the Cal Dining units.

Standard Operating Procedures
    Participates in the development and revision of standard operating procedures and guidelines for the menu management system, pos, etc. Assists in formatting menu information for operational website.

IIPP Requirements
    Works in a safe and responsible manner while not putting others at risk. This includes complying with applicable policies and regulations, using personal safety gear; observing warning signs; learning about potential hazards; and reporting unsafe conditions.

Required Qualifications
    Working knowledge of common computer application programs, e.g. MS Office. Solid communication and interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with all levels of staff and clients, both verbally and in writing. Solid organizational skills and ability to multi-task with demanding timeframes. Ability to use discretion and maintain all confidentiality. Ability to use sound judgment in responding to issues and concerns. Knowledge of menu management and point of sales (POS) systems.

Education
    High school diploma/GED required.

This position is governed by the terms and conditions in the agreement for the Clerical & Allied Services Unit (CX) between the University of California and Teamsters Local 2010.
