Educational and Experience Requirement:

High school graduate or G.E.D. equivalent with at least three years of work experience. Additional education may be considered in lieu of experience.

This position is part-time, hourly, non-benefits eligible, working 19 hours or less per week.

Nature & Purpose of Position:

The Simulation Technician assists with the implementation of the full spectrum of simulation methodologies utilized in the Simulation Hospital and Standardized Patient Suite with an emphasis on device-based simulation. This person is responsible for operating, maintaining, and repairing computerized manikins, task trainers, and related multimedia peripherals; analyzing and resolving user and interface problems; assisting in the training and education of non-technical users.

Assists Simulation and Standardized Patient lab staff in daily operations. Maintains simulation and standardized patient lab equipment.

Primary Responsibilities:

This individual will work with clinical skills personnel and faculty to implement simulation-based educational and assessment activities in the simulation hospital and Standardized Patient Suite; responsible for programing, operation, maintenance, and repair of all simulation equipment; participate in staff and client training.

Education Support

  • Support faculty and other staff in designing and delivering actual, virtual, and/or web-based training/learning encounters.
  • Support research and administrative activities.
  • Support simulator device testing.
Simulation Hospital and SP Suite Operations
  • Participate in the setup, operation, troubleshooting, and break down of healthcare simulation activities and technologies as well as associated audiovisual equipment
  • Ensure timely transitions between simulation events
  • Organize and maintain healthcare simulation equipment and supply inventory

Perform other related duties as assigned.

Other Specifications:

Must be familiar with common simulation laboratory equipment, and the instruction and research curriculum. Must be able to follow oral and written instruction, and to work a modified schedule to accommodate classes and special projects. May require frequent contact with students, staff, and student workers. Position requires the ability to lift and transfer 50-75 pounds (request assistance for heavier loads). Other Duties as assigned.
