Educational and Experience Requirement:

Bachelor’s Degree in a related field. Five years of experience in a related field. Experience in a state institution of higher education is desirable.

Nature & Purpose of Position:

Performs complex and highly advanced managerial work providing direction and guidance in strategic operations and planning for the College of Osteopathic Medicine.

Primary Responsibilities:

Provides leadership, vision, and management for program support including, but not limited to course/curriculum support and resources. Develops activities, policies, procedures, and a college culture that facilitates, promotes, and sustains collaboration with the campus community. Designs, plans, and implements a centralized course support and resources program. Assesses the degree to which additional support may be needed. Develops, documents, and implements internal control procedures to ensure fiscal, regulatory, confidentiality, and security accountability. Responsible for organizing, planning, and evaluating personnel, work assignments, supervision, training, and technical direction of staff. Creates and delivers needed training and materials a variety of formats. Collaborates with leadership and faculty to design and develop new programs. Evaluates programs and services to identify areas of strength and necessary improvements. Assists with the development of assessment instruments, curriculum mapping materials, and policies and procedures for educational programs. Works with curriculum development and implementation efforts for Undergraduate Medical Education (UME). Represents the College of Osteopathic Medicine (COM) at regional and national medical and health professions education conferences. Generates appropriate and required reports. Assists in the gathering, analysis, interpretation, evaluation, and reporting of quantitative and qualitative data relevant to curriculum, instruction, and student performance. Oversees the maintenance of program records and databases relevant to educational projects. Writes reports, creates instructional materials, and develops research reports and manuscripts. Develops strategies and processes to optimize operations for the college. Insures compliance with applicable state and federal laws, University policy and divisional directives. Directs day-to-day operations of course support and resources. Provides accurate and timely reports to professional staff. Makes decisions about objectives, operating procedures, and policies. Responsible for the office administration, including budget preparation and control. Serves on committees as requested. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Demonstrates initiative and leadership abilities to deal with a rapidly changing environment. Provides leadership and oversight to the college. Must exhibit a high level of professionalism, executive ability, and a keen understanding of protocol. Ability to organize work effectively and prioritizes objectives. Ability to exercise discretion, excellent reasoning, and independent judgment. Assists in the development of policies and operational procedures for the overall department. Skilled in directing multiple tasks, setting priorities, and organizing operations. Asset and fiscal resources management skills preferred. Ability to establish and maintain effective work relationships with administration, faculty, staff, and the public. Requires strong communication skills, both orally and written. Requires critical judgment for the department, in which very serious consequences on decision-making can occur. Interprets and applies complex directives, policies, regulations, statutes, procedures, and/or written guidelines for a department or major work group.
