Responsibilities The K-12 STEM Content Specialist will work as an individual and as part of a team to create original content, lead teams of educators on resource development and review materials for K-12 education and learning.Duties of the position include but are not limited to:- Creating original materials including lessons and activities for educators and students Working closely with educators and professionals in the field to develop original lessons and activities for studentsCreating original educational resources to support the instruction of mathematics, science and literacy in the classroomConducting thorough, high-quality review of instructor and student materialsProviding professional development and training as needed for educators, advisors, and administrators
- Master's degree in an area of STEM, mathematics or science education, or related field Excellent written and verbal communication skills Excellent presentation skills Excellent organization, administrative, and time management skills Strong attention to details and strong proofreading skills Proficient with computer software programs including Google Docs, SharePoint, Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel Creative in how to teach STEM content to students Experienced approach to teaching STEM curriculum within the classroom Creative, motivated, and able to work well individually and with a team Ability to create high-quality original educational resources (e.g., lesson plans and problem-based activities) aligned to State Standards
- Diverse knowledge and experience in many STEM content areas Experience teaching multiple levels of K-12 STEM education Practice with integrating Mathematics, Science and ELA Standards and the K-12 classroom Comprehensive understanding of Florida’s education structure and standards Knowledgeable of instruction based on State Standards as well as current research in pedagogy Professional experience in curriculum development and/or publications for education Experience in providing professional development and training as needed for teachers, advisors, and administrators 2+ years teaching experience in STEM education Proficiency in STEM content Experience using CPALMS tools and resources (www.cpalms.org)
