The Computer Science & Engineering (CSE) Department at the University of Connecticut invites applications for four (4) tenured/tenure-track faculty positions at the Assistant, Associate, or full Professor level. These positions seek to advance research and education in the vast field of computing within the CSE Department and the University, and strong candidates in all areas of computer science and engineering are encouraged to apply. Preference will be given to candidates in the areas of computer architecture, computer vision, data visualization, natural language processing, software engineering, and systems engineering.
The Department of Computer Science & Engineering provides a rich and vibrant environment of interdisciplinary research and education. Our faculty have international stature in their fields, are engaged in groundbreaking research, and actively pursue a dynamic educational atmosphere for our students. The Department offers three ABET-accredited bachelor’s degrees, three master’s degrees, and a Ph.D. degree, and has a student population of nearly 1,100 undergraduate students and more than 120 graduate students. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The successful candidates will be expected to develop and sustain an internationally recognized and externally funded research program in an existing or emerging field of computing. Successful candidates must also share a deep commitment to effective instruction at the undergraduate and graduate levels, development of innovative courses, mentoring of students in research, community outreach, and professional development. The candidates will be expected to contribute to broadening participation among members of underrepresented groups through their teaching, research, and public engagement; integrate multicultural experiences into instructional methods and research tools; and provide leadership in developing pedagogical techniques designed to meet the needs of diverse learning styles and intellectual interests.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Earned Ph.D. in computer science, computer engineering, or a related field by the time of appointment.
- An established record of research in an existing or emerging computing field.
- Demonstrated potential for excellence in teaching.
- Commitment to promoting diversity through their academic and research programs.
- Demonstrated commitment to graduate education and an established record of leadership excellence.
- An outstanding record of scholarship and research contributions in at least one of the areas identified above.
- Expertise in several areas of computer science or computer engineering.
- Experience in developing research grant applications to funding agencies.
- An established record of excellence in teaching.
- Ability to effectively communicate with students in both large and small audiences.
These are full-time, 9-month, annually renewable tenured/tenure-track positions. The candidates are expected to begin work on August 23, 2023. The successful candidate’s academic appointment will be at the Storrs campus. Faculty may also be asked to teach at one of UConn’s regional campuses as part of their ordinary workload. Salary and rank will be commensurate with qualifications.
