Assistant Professors PhysicsThe Physics Department of Illinois Wesleyan University (IWU) seeks to fill two tenure-track Assistant Professor positions in experimental physics.

Our department prides itself on quality teaching at all levels, offering a broad set of upper level courses that contain a laboratory component, and a strong emphasis on collaborative research between faculty and students.

In 2023, the Illinois Wesleyan University Physics Department received an Improving Undergraduate Physics Education Award from the American Physical Society (APS). The American Institute of Physics (AIP) lists our department as a top producer of graduates with bachelor's degrees in physics.

We seek candidates who have done some high quality experimental work, are enthusiastic about undergraduate teaching in a liberal arts environment and a genuine commitment to effective instruction in both lecture and laboratory settings. The successful candidates will maintain an active and vibrant experimental research program in pure or applied physics-related areas, which can draw students, external funding and visibility to the department.

A Ph.D. either in physics or a closely related field by August 2024 is required.
