Salary: $44,636

This is a grant-funded position. Grant-funded positions expire either at the end of the stated term or whenever funding for the position ceases.

The College is looking for exceptional colleagues to join the MVCC community. We are currently seeking a full-time AIM Program Specialist in our Advanced Institute for Manufacturing (AIM) office located on Broad Street in Utica, NY. The AIM Program Specialist is responsible for meeting the regional workforce developmentneeds by coordinating the development and delivery of educational programsalong with a variety of administrative and management functions to assist the AIMDirector with the day-to-day operations.

Key responsibilities for this position include:
  • Assists the Director with strategically positioning AIM for growth;
  • Establishes working relationships with College personnel, AIM Advisory Board Members, State and regional agency personnel;
  • Works closely with community constituencies and representatives of business, industry and non-profit organizations to identify and prioritize educational needs for workforce development;
  • Collaborates on projects pertaining to workforce development and regional manufacturing growth;
  • Assists recruited consultants to provide high-quality workforce development programs by tracking and assessing various aspects of programs and recommend revisions to ensure continuous improvements;
  • Compiles, prepares, analyzes, and maintains the statistical, financial, compliance and accounting data for all grant reports;
  • Coordinates with the College Business Office for various functions relating to financials and accounts receivable/payables for Department programs;
  • Leads and organizes planning needs for AIM’s activities and events;
  • Attends Advisory Board Meetings, major AIM events, and annual professional conference;
  • Inventories, orders, records, and maintains supplies, including equipment and training materials;
  • Supports AIM Department staff with program operations;
  • Coordinates all travel arrangements for AIM department staff;
  • Prepares and analyzes special reports as required;
  • Performs other duties related to the job description and as assigned by the Director of the AIM.


Required Qualifications:

  • Associate’s degree in Business or related field required and a minimum of three (3) years’experience in project/office management OR Bachelor’s degree inBusiness or related field and aminimum of one (1) year experience in project/office management
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook)
  • Effective communication, interpersonal, organization and problem solvingskills, and attention to detail
  • Possession of a valid driver’s license at the time of hire and throughout employment

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of the basic principles of accounting, purchasing andbudgeting
  • Experience with grantwriting and working in both education and manufacturing industry
