Athletic Events Manager

Position Summary:
The Athletic Events Manager primarily focuses on the planning and execution of athletic events. During the off-season, the position will be required to assist in the planning and execution of non-athletic events as well. The individual is responsible for assisting clients by providing advance planning support, coordinating and arranging resources, providing quotes and invoices and playing a key role in the day of execution. This position plays a key role in establishing and strengthening relationships with on campus and off campus stakeholders through providing exemplary customer service.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Two years of progressively responsible experience in event planning.
- Experience using common office computer applications including word-processing, spreadsheet, email, and browser applications.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Sports Management, Business Management, or 4 or more years of athletics management experiences, with a focus on event operations.
Ability to:
- Communicate effectively in orally and in written communication.
- Apply budgetary and fiscal planning techniques within financial constraints.
- Plan, direct, and evaluate a complex operation, using staffing power, time, funds, and other resources for the accomplishment of organizational policies, activities and long-term and short-term goals of the organization.
- Work effectively with internal constituents, particularly coaching staff, senior staff and other University staff.
Experience in:
- Interpreting and applying laws, rules and regulations, developing security systems and safety programs.
- Developing, establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with students, faculty, staff, administrators, and public, private, and governmental offices and agencies.
Physical Requirements & Working Conditions:
- Ability to move about and between event locations for extended periods of time up to a full day of work.
- Ability to lift, carry and/or otherwise move up to 50-70 lbs.
Required Licensures, Certifications or other
- Required to work non-standard schedule as needed to meet business needs of the office.
- Valid Driver’s License and ability to meet the University of Idaho’s driving requirements
