The Department of Engineering has an opening in its mechanical engineering program for a faculty member with expertise in machine design, modeling of dynamic systems, mechanical vibrations, mechatronics and/or similar fields. The engineering programs at Hofstra are experiencing rapid growth, and the successful applicant will contribute to the department’s ability to offer a top-tier undergraduate educational experience to our students. 

  • Candidates must be effective communicators with a strong commitment to undergraduate teaching, be able to initiate sustained research - especially of a type that can involve advanced undergraduates - and show initiative in seeking external funding for research. 
  • In 2023, a new $75 million Science and Innovation Center will open on the Hofstra Campus and serve the DeMatteis School of Engineering and Applied Sciences. More information about Hofstra University's Department of Engineering can be found at www.hofstra.edu/engineering

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Earned Ph.D. in mechanical engineering or a closely related field. Successful candidates will have demonstrated a commitment to promoting equity, diversity and inclusion in an educational environment.
