Information Technology and Computing Services (ITCS) is the central agency that supports enterprise-wide computing at East Carolina University. We will achieve this through increasing the core functions and deploying appropriate technology throughout the university.Job Duties :
The Enterprise Systems Linux team ensures secure, highly available and robust computing platforms to power the University’s mission critical Enterprise Linux Systems. The team installs, configures and supports Red Hat Enterprise Linux, SUSE, OEL and other platform technologies on various server hardware including blade servers, virtual servers, and rack mount servers.
The primary function of this position is administration and support of Red Hat Enterprise Linux servers and other platform technologies including Red Hat Satellite and Cloud-Centric Technologies. Duties include monitoring and maintaining overall system security, upgrading software, patching and remediating system level vulnerabilities. Troubleshooting performance issues, system failures, and security events. Provisioning and configuring new systems. Performing system level security hardening and performance tuning. Duties also include researching, developing, testing and deploying new solutions to solve issues or meet business needs. The position will drive System level automation for provisioning, configuring and baseline enforcement using Ansible playbooks, Puppet modules, shell scripts, and many other cloud-native technologies. This position will develop and test disaster recovery plans and will manage short and long-term projects of varying degrees of size and complexity.Minimum Education/Experience :

The position provides technical support as part of an on-call rotation during non-business hours.Employees are required to adjust their standard work schedule to meet the requirements of their position, which includes and not limited to evening and weekend hours to perform scheduled and unscheduled workload requirements to maintain University operations.
Bachelor’s degree and 2 years of relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.License or Certification Required by Statute or Regulation :

· Supporting Production Red Hat Enterprise Linux or other Linux variants· Using Kickstart templates, PXE boot, yum repositories, RPMs, shell scripts, Perl scripts, etc.· IT Automation using Ansible playbooks, Puppet modules, Kickstart templates, Shell scripts, python scripts, cloud images, etc.· Cloud-native technologies such as Azure, AWS, GCE, Openstack, etc.· Building, deploying, troubleshooting, and supporting highly available x86 platforms.· Enterprise clustering such as Red Hat Enterprise Linux Cluster, Bright Computing Cluster Manager, Oracle Clusterware, HA Proxy, HA LVM, Gluster Storage, or CEPH Storage.· Developing and testing disaster recovery plans.· Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, organizational, planning, and strong problem-solving skills· Technical support as part of an on-call rotation during non-business hours.· Certification in Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA) and/or Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE) and/or applicable certifications is highly desired.Special Instructions to Applicant :
