FACULTY POSITION ANNOUNCEMENTClinical Assistant ProfessorCOLLEGE OF NURSING AND HEALTH SCIENCES
The Public Health Sciences Undergraduate Program, within the College of Nursing and Health Sciences at the University of Vermont (UVM) invites applicants for a full-time, nine-month position at the rank of Clinical Assistant Professor.

We seek a professional with expertise in sexual violence prevention, experiential and health education. The position expectations include active engagement in teaching, advising, service, professional practice in the area of sexual violence prevention, and development of a peer education program in this area. The successful candidate will be able to contribute to UVM’s commitment to engaging students in sexual violence prevention on campus, through the development of a comprehensive, course-based internship program that will train students to serve as leaders and peer educators in the area of sexual violence prevention on campus. This position will have profound impacts on UVM’s campus culture and the student experience, and directly contribute to the mission of both the University and the HSCI program. This position begins in the Fall of 2023.

The Public Health Sciences Undergraduate Program, accredited by the Council on Education for Public Health, is a fast-growing major committed to preparing students for careers in health-related fields. The core curriculum integrates social, behavioral and analytic areas of public health and population health sciences.

Responsibilities:o Develop and teach courses focused on sexual violence prevention and peer educationo Oversee and mentor a team of sexual violence prevention peer educatorso Work in partnership with stakeholders across campus and the community to bridge the academic, administrative and social aspects of prevention on campus.o Develop additional curricula to be taught in a variety of settings including: new courses and/or concentrations in the Public Health curriculum, workshops for student leaders, student athletes, and community groups.o Actively seek and apply for grant funding to ensure the sustainability of the programo Actively engage in professional practice in the field of sexual violence prevention.

Qualifications:We are seeking a doctoral-trained individual in Public Health, Social Work or related field with expertise in sexual violence prevention and health education (CHES certification highly desirable). Applicants at the Master’s degree level will also be considered if they have significant teaching experience in higher education. Candidates with experience developing internship programs and community engaged learning are highly desirable. Direct practice experience in campus-based or community-based survivor-centered, trauma informed sexual violence and/or interpersonal violence prevention education also highly desirable. This program will take a holistic approach to sexual violence education, including topics such as healthy sexuality and relationships, as such a background in comprehensive sexuality education is highly desirable. The successful candidate will have demonstrated a commitment to diversity and social justice, as well as a strong interest in undergraduate teaching and employ innovative and inclusive practices in the classroom.

We are part of an academic health sciences center including Vermont’s tertiary care hospital, the Larner College of Medicine and a state of the art interdisciplinary clinical simulation laboratory, within proximity to the University campus.

The DepartmentThe Department of Biomedical and Health Sciences is part of the College of Nursing and Health Sciences (https://www.uvm.edu/cnhs/bhsc). The successful candidate will join a department with tenure track, clinical faculty, lecturers and staff that are dedicated to educating the nearly 300 undergraduate students and 15 graduate students in our programs. Program offerings include undergraduate majors in Public Health Sciences, Medical Laboratory Science (MLS), Medical Radiation Science and an MLS Master’s degree.
