Position Summary:

The primary location of this position is the main Cullowhee, NC campus.

Western Carolina University’s College of Business invites applications for a 9-month tenure track position in operations management beginning in August 2023 at the Associate or Assistant Professor level. Rank will be determined at the point of hire.

Preference will be given to candidates who have a demonstrated record of achievement in teaching at the college or university level in at least two of the following areas: operations management, supply chain management, management science, and data analytics. The application reviews will begin on or about October, 24th 2022, and will continue until a candidate has been selected for hire.

A successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to contribute to the department programs’ mission in providing students with the skills needed to address the challenges of contemporary business. The expected teaching load is 18 semester hours per academic year. Some teaching responsibilities may be at off-site locations and/or during evening hours. This position requires teaching online and face-to-face courses, advising, and service activities as designated by the school director. Moreover, the successful candidate must be willing to meet the AACSB accreditation requirements regarding the college of business faculty qualification. A commitment to active engagement with professionals in the regional business community is expected.

Minimum Qualifications:

A Ph.D. or ABD in management or an appropriate business field or a terminal degree in a closely related business field from an AACSB-accredited institution is required. Applicants who are ABD with a dissertation defense date and completing all degree requirements on or before August 15th, 2023, will be considered.

Preferred Qualifications:

College or university level teaching in at least three of the following areas: operations management, supply chain management, management science and data analytics.Teaching experience at the graduate level.

Private or public sector managerial work experience.
