Administrative Finance/HR Coordinator

Position Summary

Responsible for managing the accounting processes and preparing financial reports for the Community Music School (East Lansing and Detroit) which includes budget development and forecasting; monitoring, analyzing and reconciling accounting records for the director at each of the Community Music School’s programs. Manage the Community Music School payroll processing and completion of hiring paperwork for both locations. Proposes and implements plans, objectives, policies and procedures and is responsible for communicating these to faculty and staff. Monitors contracts and agreements between the Community Music School’s on-call instructors and outside organizations with which the Community Music School collaborates and received funding (i.e. regional schools, churches and arts and service organizations). Serves as facilities manager including: reporting problems in the building and on the property, coordinating repairs/requests for work needed in facility, and generally serving as contact person for personnel when onsite to complete work. Reports to both directors of the Community Music School locations and collaborates with the Finance Director of the College of Music regarding matters of budget and operations; collaborates with the Human Resources Director of the College of Music regarding matters of personnel. Post-award liaison with CGA for both locations. Assists both directors with matters related to the operation of the schools. Assists East Lansing director with maintenance of East Lansing portion of the website. Other duties as assigned.

Unit Specific Education/Experience/Skills

Knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired by completing a four-year college degree program in a business-related field or in a field which corresponds to the particular department of employment; one to three years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in office procedures, or in performing responsibilities related to the operational activities of the employing unit; experience with word processing, database, spreadsheet, presentation software and/or desktop publishing, web page software; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
