Job Description:

The Radiology Department at the University of Florida-Jacksonville College of Medicine, Division of Vascular and Interventional Radiology is seeking a full time Vascular Interventional Radiologist. Appointment will be at the Tenure/Non-Tenure accruing level of Assistant/Associate/Full Professor. Academic rank commensurate with past experience.

Candidates must be Board Certified, Board Eligible in Interventional Radiology. The successful candidate will have completed a fellowship in Vascular and Interventional Radiology or an Interventional Radiology residency. The candidate should be a team player with a diverse interventional skill-set. The section consists of five full time interventional radiologists, all of whom have been with the Division for at least 5 years. The group is expanding because of growth.

  • Provide high quality service in a friendly academic setting.
  • Serve as a mentor to IR residents and DR Resident’s interested in IR. Our Interventional Radiology Residency program has both integrated and Independent pathways. In total, we have 7 IR residents per year. The DR program has 24 residents who rotate through the IR Division and an ESIR Pathway for DR residents wishing to pursue a career in IR.
  • Research team is available to faculty interested in pursuing scholarly activity.
  • Work with colleagues in surgery, cardiology, nephrology, gastroenterology, medical oncology, radiation oncology & pathology, via daily interactions/multidisciplinary meetings. Of note, there is a high degree of collaboration with Vascular Surgery resulting in a collaborative peripheral vascular disease and aortic stent-graft program.

UF Health - Jacksonville is the only university-based academic practice in Northeast Florida and is expanding its footprint across northeast Florida. We are subspecialized across the Radiology Department with physicians only expected to work within their designated Division.

UF Health - Jacksonville serves as the premier level-I trauma center in Northeast Florida. The VlR faculty performs complex vascular and non-vascular work including thoracic and abdominal aortic stent­ grafts. UF Health - Jacksonville is a Comprehensive Stroke Center, and our team shares stroke intervention call with the neurosurgery department. Candidates do not need to have prior stroke intervention experience and can receive training/mentoring for this procedure until they feel comfortable operating independently.

The team also provides coverage for the UF Health - North hospital - a state-of-the-art inpatient and outpatient medical complex with a 24/7 full-service emergency room, outpatient surgery, occupational medicine, a birth center, advanced imaging and other diagnostic services. This facility is expanding with a new bed tower currently under construction. UF Health North is the only hospital in North Jacksonville, providing services for residents of northern Duval County, Nassau County and Southeast Georgia.

The college's 16 clinical science departments house more than 440 faculty members, 1,560 staff and 384 residents and fellows, as well as medical students from UF and around the country. We offer an incredible breadth of clinical training program sand proud to train many of best primary care providers and specialists throughout the region, the state and the country.

The college offers 38 accredited graduate medical education programs and 14 non-standard programs. More than 100 residents and fellows from programs across the U.S. come to UF College of Medicine – Jacksonville to participate in various clinical rotations as well.

In addition to graduate medical education, clinical rotations in all the major disciplines are provided for students from the UF College of Medicine in Gainesville. Third-year medical students enrolled at UF spend about 25 percent of their training at the Jacksonville campus, gaining valuable experience in an urban setting. While third-year rotations are only offered to UF students, elective rotations in the final year of clinical training are available to students from accredited schools in the US and Canada.

For practicing physicians, the college offers a continuing medical education program that recruits national and international speakers who are well known and respected in their fields.

The college's faculty, residents and fellows are active in clinical research. Residents and fellows regularly present their findings at locations across the country and publish their projects in well-known publications. In 2019, the campus received $23.1 million in external research funding, approximately 50% of which was federally sponsored projects.

The campus houses a 16,000-square-foot clinical and translational research facility. To support faculty and resident research, the college has a Center for Data Solutions, offering researchers analytics, epidemiology and biostatistics support, and a Center for Research Training, helping develop the next generation of highly collaborative clinical researchers.

Located in the Northeastern part of the state on the Atlantic Ocean, Jacksonville’s weather is sunny and pleasant. We enjoy an average of 320 days of sunshine each year, yet have the coolest summers in the state. Expected Salary:

Salary is negotiable; commensurate with experience and qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

Candidate must be BC/BE in Interventional Radiology. The successful candidate will have completed a fellowship in Vascular and Interventional Radiology or an Interventional Radiology residency. Must be able to get a Florida Medical License.

Preferred Qualifications:

The candidate should be a team player with a diverse interventional skill-set.
