Description:

Reporting to the General Manager, the Operations Director will manage a range of tasks in the day-to-day operations of WRHU 88.7 FM Radio Hofstra University, some of which include: conducting FCC-mandated EAS tests, preparing for FCC quarterly reports, maintaining operating logs, and recording, editing, ingesting and scheduling assigned broadcast shows.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Records, edits, ingests, and schedules assigned shows.
  • Works with student managers to remove outdated shows and air items and ingest/schedule updated content.
  • Reviews next day (and upcoming) programming schedule using RCS/Zetta/gSelector to ensure the correct programs are airing at the proper times and that all hours are filled with timely or evergreen content.
  • Prints and place operating logs in studio.
  • Reviews/files filled out operating logs with meter readings.
  • Schedules and ensures Emergency Alert System (EAS) weekly test is performed and recorded, as per FCC regulations.
  • Curates material needed for FCC public file quarterly reports.
  • Mentors students in studio operation and show idea development.
  • Diagnoses and resolves technical issues in studio as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned by General Manager.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • 1 year work related experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 5 to 10 years radio experience.
  • Familiar with RCS, Zetta, gSelector.
  • Familiar with Adobe Addition and Wheatstone.
  • Knowledge of studio routers and generating daily program logs.
  • Experience working with program directors and general managers.
