Account Technician

Position Information: Description

The mission of the Shared Service Center is to provide timely, accurate, and convenient financial services to departments in an efficient and effective manner; and in compliance with appropriate rules and regulations to enhance the instructional, research, and public service programs of the university in an environment that supports the needs of the university’s students, faculty, staff and the community. This position will be responsible for providing core business functions for departments served by the Shared Service Center. The position will work collaboratively with Financial Services Accountants to support the needs of the departments.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Provide accounting and business-related support

    • Process Accounts Payable transactions.

    • Process Accounts Receivable transactions.

    • Process transactions in compliance with UND policies and procedures.

    •  Retain documentation in accordance with UND Records Retention policies.

  • Assist with monitoring and reporting of customer financial transactions and budgets

    • Use PeopleSoft ERP and other reporting tools to record, review, and assist with reconciling financial transactions for assigned departments.

    • Assist with reconciling all customer funds monthly.

    • Assist Financial Services Accountants with annual budget preparation, including data entry in the budget module.

  • Coordinate departmental payroll activities and prepare appropriate HR & Payroll Services paperwork..

    • Assist Financial Accountants in the preparation of appropriate payroll paperwork.

    • Assist customers with new paperwork for onboarding new employees, faculty letters of understanding, etc.

    • Review payroll expenditures for compliance and appropriateness.

  • Be an active team member including participation in meetings, professional development, training and other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements
  • Associate’s degree in accounting or business related field or two years of work experience in a financial or business support role; such as bookkeeping, accounting, finance, payroll support or similar.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Word, Outlook, and Excel.
  • Successful completion of criminal history records check.

In compliance with federal law, all persons hired will be required to verify identity and eligibility to work in the US and to complete the required employment eligibility verification form upon hire.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in processing, reconciling, and reporting of financial transactions.
  • Experience with PeopleSoft Finance and HRMS (Human Resources/Payroll) modules.
  • Experience with Perceptive Content or similar accounts payable system.
  • Knowledge of UND policies and procedures.
Minimum Hiring Salary/Position Classification

$42,000 / year, benefitted, non-exempt position

Work Schedule

Monday - Friday ; 8:00AM - 4:30PM
