As a full-time, twelve-month position, the Assistant Director for Compliance reports to the Associate Athletic Director for Compliance. This position will assist the Associate Athletic Director for Compliance with all phases of administering a comprehensive NCAA Division I, ASUN Conference, Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference, and Pioneer Football League compliance, monitoring, and rules education program.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Monitoring and ensuring compliance with NCAA, conference and university rules through the use of various database systems (e.g., ARMS, Banner, Argos, SLATE).
  • Responsible for ARMS and NCAA software monitoring system program by inputting required data, and communicating discrepancies of software or logs to relevant parties.
  • Perform documentation review, audits, and observations in the following areas: recruiting, playing and practice seasons, student-athlete awards and extra benefits, amateurism, initial and continuing eligibility, student-athlete employment, outside competition, social networking, camps and clinics, and athletics personnel.
  • Assist with the rules education program by producing appropriate materials for athletics department staff, student-athletes, university staff, and boosters.
  • Assist with updating departmental manuals for student-athletes, coaches and staff.
  • Disseminate NCAA interpretations, educational columns, and legislation, as necessary.
  • Complete internal and external transfer requests.
  • Assist with preparation of waivers and rules violation investigations, as needed.
  • Manage complimentary admissions process through the compliance software system.
  • Monitor official and unofficial campus recruiting visits to ensure compliance with NCAA legislation.
  • Track initial eligibility of student-athletes at the Eligibility Center.
  • Serve as the primary contact for roster management within the Athletic Department.
  • Manage the National Letter of Intent (NLI) program, including NLI approval, issuance, and validation within the NLI portal.
  • Assist with game-day operations in football.
  • Oversee compliance intern position.
  • Requires some physical effort (e.g., standing, walking, and lifting), manual dexterity in the operation of office equipment, extended period of time at a keyboard, and, at times, working hours outside the normal university schedule.
  • Performs other site and position specific functions as assigned.

Minimum Education: Bachelor's degree; advanced degree preferred

Required Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university required; Advance degree preferred.
  • Minimum of one year of NCAA compliance experience at an institution, conference office or the NCAA is required; 2 years of Division I compliance experience is preferred.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of NCAA Division I rules, interpretations, and rules education.
  • Ability and understanding to use NCAA website tools (e.g., LSDBi, Transfer Portal, RSRO, Eligibility Center and CAi), recruiting software (i.e., ARMS), university databases (e.g., Banner, Argos and SLATE), and other computer applications (e.g., word processing, spreadsheet, database, and presentations).
