Job Summary

The University of North Georgia is currently accepting applications for a Program Admissions Specialist on the Dahlonega campus. The Program Admissions Specialist (PAS) coordinates, facilitates, and manages all admissions cycles for the College of Education and collects, maintains, and monitors data associated with the admissions process. The PAS communicates with and meets with students applying to programs and visit classes and holds orientation sessions to help prepare upcoming applicants. The PAS collaborates with COE administration, faculty, and staff and offices across campus including Academic Advising, Graduate Admissions, Instructional Technology, the Registrar, and other departments to manage admissions and aggregate and review data for transmission to the state reporting system and for the purposes of accreditation and program approval. This position ensures we are responsive to the parameters provided by the UNG Registrar and various state and national regulations, accreditation, and reporting agencies.

Responsibilities
  • Manage COE program admissions by processing all application materials and evaluating student eligibility for admission into all programs - undergraduate, graduate, certification, and professional learning units - for all departments.
  • Create and maintain meticulous admissions records of all College of Education applicants; analyze admissions data and provides reports for assessment and accreditation purposes; provide admissions data as requested.
  • Utilize Banner Systems to register students for courses and update coding for admitted students. Monitor all candidates provisionally accepted until all conditions for acceptance are met; and update degree codes and test codes in banner for admitted students.
  • Facilitate the COE admissions appeals process and general monitoring of student progress, including monitoring all student grades and GPAs at the end of each semester to identify where students may need support services and determine program continuation, administer probation or suspension letters, and maintain all associated records.
  • Research and develop new policies and procedures as new rules are established from accreditation and program approval bodies; collaborate with IT to maintain online admission system and reports; regularly meet with department heads and program coordinators to review admissions cycles and associated policies and procedures; regularly meet with Field Placement Coordinator to review admissions data for field and clinical placement purposes. Participate in Student Support Services staff team to provide appropriate admissions support to all students.
  • Manage all inquiries concerning admissions; schedule meetings with students with questions/concerns or students who need assistance with the admission process; monitor and communicate through the ¿COEUndergrads¿ and ¿COEgrads¿ email exchanges. Attend meetings, classes, and orientations to speak to stakeholders about admissions requirements. Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

  • Requires excellent written and verbal communication skills and organizational skills.
  • Requires knowledge of office practices, procedures, systems and equipment; ability to prioritize tasks; ability to maintain meticulous records, gather and process information; ability to work unsupervised; ability to work with a diverse student, faculty, and parent population as well as the ability to maintain confidentiality and follow all FERPA rules and regulations.
  • Skills using Banner and Microsoft Office, including Excel, strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of and adherence to UNG and departmental policies and procedures.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Three years of related clerical or administrative experience,
  • Or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
