Sr. Systems Administrator
IT@JH Engineering Services is seeking a Sr. Systems Administrator who is responsible for installation, configuration, troubleshooting of the internals of RedHat Linux Operating environment. Knowledge of and practical experience analyzing performance of Linux servers. Ability to quickly assess systems related problems and provide resolutions with minimal impacts to user community.

Specific Duties & Responsibilities

  • Install, configure, maintain and troubleshoot RedHat Enterprise Linux servers.
  • Perform system upgrades including planning and scheduling, testing, and coordination by following documentation and departmental standards to provide a stable product for the environment.
  • Follow and maintain IT security awareness and best practices by understanding security principles as they pertain to environments supported in order to deliver secure solutions to customers.
  • Work in unison with other team members to ensure complete and accurate implementation of changes utilizing department approved Change Management and team policies.
  • Should be self-motivated and open for learning new technologies.
  • Maintain the documentations for assigned projects.
  • Ability to establish and meet work schedules within time frames, willingness to work off hours as needed in support of changes to the computing environmen.t
  • Expected to support systems that may be located in geographically distributed data centers.


Specific Devices, Software, Projects

  • Provide technical support to projects as assigned by the team manager.
  • Servers are primarily in the Cisco UCS infrastructure or Microsoft Azure.
  • Work with the UNIX team to utilize VM Build Automation to improve consistency and reliability of our Linux builds.


Scale/size of Area, project and/or System Supported

  • Departmental or enterprise-wide support of the servers and users for various projects supported by Enterprise UNIX team.


On-Call Requirements
  • On-call rotation participation is required 7x24x365.

  • Must have knowledge of RedHat/Centos V7/8.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree.
  • Three years related experience.
  • Additional education may substitute for required experience and additional related experience may substitute for required education, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.

Preferred Qualifications
  • RedHat/Centos Linux.
  • Experience with virtualization software (VMWare, or others) running Linux VMs.
  • Experience with creation and management of users and groups.
  • Experience with creation and maintenance of file systems.
  • Experience with Linux OS security.

Starting Salary Range: $61,070-$83,900 Annally (Commensurate with experience)
Employee group: Full Time
Schedule: Mon-Fri 8:30 am-5:00 pm
