Job Summary

The faculty member teaches courses in Computer Programming, Database Administration, Internet Technology and Mobile Application Development. This is a full-time Faculty (FAC) position for which an annual contract reflecting the base salary within the fiscal year (July 1st to June 30th) will be issued after ratification by Miami Dade College’s District Board of Trustees.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Teaches lecture and laboratory sections
  • Evaluates students and performs career and academic advising
  • Plans and organizes instructional materials to meet course objectives
  • Participates in curriculum development and revision that stress innovation and multi-cultural emphasis
  • Participates in department recruiting and retention activities
  • Participates in a variety of departmental, campus and college-wide programs, activities and committees
  • Serves as a resource person for adjunct faculty
  • Teaches day, evening and weekend classes as needed
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Minimum Requirements
  • Master's Degree in Computer Science or related field (e.g. Masters Degree in Information Technology, Networking and Telecommunications, Management Information Systems, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering); or Master's Degree and 18 graduate semester hours in Computer Science or related field as listed above.
  • All educational degrees must be from a regionally accredited institution
  • Possess knowledge and ability to teach advanced level courses in C++, Visual Basic, Java and Operating Systems (Windows/Linux)
  • Familiarity with and use of collaborative learning techniques and student-centered methods of instruction
  • Possess excellent communication skills and ability to communicate effectively with students with a wide range of skills
  • Possess excellent interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated effective use of active learning techniques
  • Ability to work well with students, faculty, and staff, in a multi-ethnic/multi-cultural environment
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule that may include evening and weekend assignments
  • Start date for this Faculty position is scheduled on or before January 03, 2023
  • Doctoral stipend awarded in addition to base salary, as applicable

Preferences
  • Doctorate in Information Systems, Doctorate in Computer Science or related field preferred
  • Previous curriculum development and recruitment experience a plus
  • Preference will be given for college level teaching experience
