Qualifications for Employment

Minimum Requirements:

Associate’s degree and two (2) or more years of paid work experience in an office setting. Demonstrated proficiency in computer skills in: Microsoft office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), databases, and internet research skills. Demonstrated proficient writing, mathematical and analytical skills. Ability to work independently.

Preferred Other:

Experience or interest in facility operations. Experience in areas related to facilities, security, information technology, health and safety. A minimum of one (1) year experience working with data gathering – preparing and reviewing. Experience in Ellucian Banner a plus.

Nature and Scope of Duties

The Assistant to the Coordinator Operations reports to the Coordinator of Operations and performs the following duties:

• Supports and assists the Coordinator of Operations in the execution of all departmental functions.
• Assists EOC staff in special events planning, processing, and implementation.
• Assists with new EOC staff in regard to departmental processes.
• Makes recommendations to improve the operation of departmental and office procedures.
• Assists the Coordinator of Operations in departmental activities associated with day to day operations of the facility.
• Maintains records, completes reports, and compiles statistics and data related to EOC and department functions.
• Reviews EOC related database(s) weekly and assists in reports related to department activities and functions.
• Utilizes, maintains, and updates Excel spreadsheets for recording, tracking, and execution of various departmental functions and activities.
• Maintains custody of departmental office equipment assigned to the department.
• Promotes and maintains positive communications and interactions with EOC staff and other customers, vendors, and /or partners in performance of duties.
• Organizes and maintains general departmental files, both electronic and hard copy.
• Keeps Coordinator informed at all times of departmental activities.
• Monitors and tracks status of departmental activities.
• Cooperates with other center offices and staff, as appropriate.
• Maintains inventory management systems.
• Responds to oral and written communication, both internal and external.
• Attends and participates in meetings as necessary and assigned.
• Works occasional evening assignments as may be necessary to assist in departmental activities.
• Performs other related duties as may be assigned.

This is a 12-month benefitted position with a salary range of $35,000-$40,000.

Hudson Valley Community College serves approximately 13,500 students each semester, and employs more than 630 full- and part-time faculty members. Currently the second-largest institution of higher learning in the Capital Region of New York State, Hudson Valley Community College offers more than 70 degree and certificate programs through its four schools: Business; Engineering & Industrial Technologies; Health Sciences; and Liberal Arts and Sciences.

Although 80 percent of Hudson Valley's students come from the immediate Capital Region, the rest come from every county of New York State and many other states and foreign countries. The college's Associate in Applied Science (AAS) and Associate in Occupational Studies (AOS) programs lead to immediate employment in industry, business, government and health agencies. The college's Associate in Arts (AA) and Associate in Science (AS) programs lead to transfer of students to four-year colleges and universities. In addition, the college sponsors a number of certificate programs that prepare students for selected occupational specialties.

The college, through its Workforce Development Institute, coordinates customized training for many area businesses and government agencies. The Office of Continuing Education and Summer Sessions offers credit-bearing courses at convenient times and places, while the Office of Community and Professional Education offers a wide variety of non-credit and short-term courses that serve a wide range of community and professional needs and interests. More than 10,000 individuals benefit each year from the college's off-campus programs.

The campus provides extensive, state-of-the-art facilities to support its academic programs, including the Bulmer Telecommunications Center, which encompasses the latest innovations in multi-media presentation, video teleconferencing, distance learning, and instructional technology, and the McDonough Sports Complex, a 126,000-square-foot recreational facility that contains a field house and the ice rink.

As a comprehensive, full-service community college, Hudson Valley is committed to meeting the educational and training needs of diverse constituencies.
