Job Summary

The Department of Theatre at Columbus State University in Columbus, Georgia invites applications for a position in the Department of Theatre and Dance at the rank of Assistant Professor, beginning fall semester 2023.

Responsibilities

Primary teaching responsibilities will include such courses as Lighting Design, Lighting Fundamentals, Sound Design and Technology, and additional courses in area of expertise. Additional responsibilities include maintaining, implementing and supervising the lighting and sound areas for the Department of Theatre and Dance. Participation in advising, recruitment, service to the department, college, and university as well as continued professional development is expected. Supervision of student workers in required.

Required Qualifications

A Master of Fine Arts in Lighting Design or related design field is required. The candidate must also have professional design experience and/or a proven record of teaching at the undergraduate level. Successful candidate will show evidence of theatrical design artistry and a proficiency in drafting and electrical maintenance. A secondary focus in sound design is highly desirable.

Applicants must have the ability to meet Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) requirements, in particular a minimum of 18 graduate hours in the teaching discipline.
