Contract Specialist

The Contracts Department at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, invites applications for a full-time Contract Specialist. Reporting to the Contract Coordinator, the Contract Specialist is responsible for reviewing contracts to ensure adherence to laws, regulations and University policies.

Qualifications
Minimum Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Business or related area plus 3 -5 years of experience drafting, reviewing and negotiating contracts.
Ability to read and accurately interpret legal language, regulations and policies
Ability to negotiate contracts with third parties
Knowledge of contract principles
Ability to exercise independent judgment
Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing and maintain effective working relationships
Ability to work under pressure to meet time sensitive deadlines for a high volume of detailed material
Knowledge and skills to work in Microsoft Office and contract software platforms

Preference will be given to individuals with experience working in contract administration at an institute of higher education or governmental agency. Knowledge of State of Tennessee Law, university contracting procedures and standard insurance limits and coverage types for vendor contracts is also preferred.
