Learning Technology Specialist -- IT Administrator/Analyst 3

Market Range: 13

The Office of Information Technology’s Teaching & Learning Technologies group is seeking a Learning Technology Specialist to teach and support MS Office applications as well as existing and emerging educational technologies. This person should have a genuine passion for helping others learn to use these technologies. This position provides one-on-one consultations for instructional technology solutions and the design, development, and facilitation of training that focuses on current productivity software packages for students, faculty, and staff. This position designs and develops materials related to face-to-face (currently via Zoom) and asynchronous online training experiences. This position also supports the administration of an enterprise level software application related to personal response systems (clickers) and manages a faculty advisory board regarding clickers. This position mentors graduate assistants who may also teach and support our training. This position contributes to special projects such as new student orientation, pilot studies that explore the use of various emerging instructional technologies, and other special events or training-related projects.



Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s degree or comparable demonstrated work experience in educational technology, teaching, or training. A Master’s degree is preferred.

Experience: At least 3 years of experience designing, developing, and delivering technology related instruction or an equivalent combination of education, training, customer support, and demonstrated knowledge and experience.

Required Job Skills:

Software and Hardware:

  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel with ability to implement advanced features such as creating macros, troubleshooting databases, and creating advanced reports.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft 365 applications: Word and PowerPoint.
Teaching and Training:

  • Experience designing, developing, and delivering training in a variety of delivery formats such as traditional classroom, Zoom, webinars, and online instructional materials for a variety of learners.
  • Excellent presentation skills.
Interpersonal and Communication:

  • Strong people skills.
  • Strong listening skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively across generations and cultures.
  • Ability to work well with peers and team members.
  • Ability to work independently on multiple projects.

Preferred Job Skills:

Software and Hardware:

  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft 365 applications such as Teams, Planner, List, ToDo, and other general productivity tools.
  • Intermediate knowledge of G Suite for Education.
  • Intermediate knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud.
  • Proficient knowledge of Windows and Mac operating systems.
  • Experience with supporting classroom technology applications such as classroom response systems.
Teaching and Training:

  • Experience in higher education.
  • Experience in instructional design.
  • Ability to help faculty, staff, and students find solutions to challenges encountered in different applications.
  • Ability to research, learn, and teach emerging technologies in both hardware and software.
  • Foundational knowledge of accessibility, inclusion, and diversity in training.
  • Experience with developing multimedia-based instruction.
