Montgomery County Community College (Montco) invites confidential applications and nominations for the next Vice President for Academic Affairs. The ideal candidate will be an innovative, collaborative, equity-minded, academic leader with high emotional intelligence and a passion for student success.

 

Montco is located in Montgomery County, the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania’s third largest county. Montco’s Blue Bell and Pottstown campuses are situated 25 and 40 miles from Philadelphia, respectively. Founded in 1964, Montco has grown with the community to meet the lifelong learning needs of Montgomery County residents, visitors and businesses. Montco is known for academic excellence based on the successes of more than 90,000 alumni. Montco has been recognized multiple times for having the nation’s top faculty and for being the most technologically advanced community college in the country. As a member of the Achieving the Dream National Network (ATD), Montco is constantly honing research-based strategies that support student success. Montco was named as an Achieving the Dream Leader College in 2011 and was recertified as a Leader College in 2017 and 2019. Montco earned the prestigious Leah Meyer Austin Award in 2014—the highest distinction a college in the ATD Network can earn. According to ATD, the award is given annually to a college that employs a holistic approach to reducing equity gaps between student groups and increasing success for all. In 2019, ATD named Montco a Leader College of Distinction for its work in achieving new, higher student outcomes and narrowing equity gaps.  Montco is one of only 11 community colleges in the country to receive this prominent designation.

 

The Vice President for Academic Affairs (VPAA) is the College’s Chief Academic Officer and an integral member of the President’s Senior Leadership Team. The VPAA is responsible for strategic leadership and innovation in the planning, development, and delivery of credit and noncredit curricula, irrespective of delivery modalities, at all campuses and instructional sites in support of the College’s student success and workforce development goals.

 

Qualifications for the next VPAA include:

 

  • An earned doctorate Minimum of five years of progressive experience and demonstrated success in higher education administration as a dean and/or vice president, preferably at a multiple campus, community college Substantial relevant teaching experience in higher education, preferably at a community college Significant experience and commitment to leadership development and managing and developing people in a complex, dynamic and fast paced higher education environment
