Position Description:
Reporting to the Director of Library Communications and Marketing, the Assistant Director of Communications and Digital Content (AD) focuses on developing, executing, and measuring results-oriented communications campaigns across Library units, leading institutional social media, and creating original written, visual and digital content that supports and advances the mission and goals of the Library. The AD provides editorial and review services as needed for other projects, such as the Library website, unit-based communications and Development materials, and helps ensure brand consistency.

As the primary social media lead, the AD is responsible for developing and directing the overall planning, day-to-day management, coordination, and execution of social strategy and content; the AD works closely with, and chairs, an internal team of Library stakeholders to source social posts and to ensure the digital expression of social content aligns with the Library brand.

The AD is part of a team that includes a Communications and Public Programs Manager, and a Website Managing Editor and Content Design Librarian. The team works closely together to source and develop content, to contribute to the Library's overall communications strategy, and to keep up with and share best practices in their respective areas. The team is supported by three student employees.

The Office of Library Strategic Communications and Marketing is responsible for enhancing the visibility and reputation of UCLA Library and serves as the primary source for external information about Library services, resources, initiatives, and people. The office employs digital and traditional communications channels and methods to ensure that all aspects of the UCLA Library's public presentation communicate about and show the Library's value to UCLA students, faculty, staff, alumni, and donors; scholars from around the world; and members of the public. Demonstrating and reinforcing the Library's commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion (EDI) in all creative work is essential to holistically engaging with and reaching UCLA's diverse audiences and is a measure of the Communications Team's success.

In 15 of the 16 medical specialty areas examined, UCLA Medical Center ranked in the top 20.
