HS Clinical Series: Clinical Geneticist



The Division of Genetic and Genomic Medicine, Department of Pediatrics, UCI School of Medicine seeks a Clinical Geneticist to join our clinical and academic faculty of 11 geneticists and 10 genetic counselors. The Division provides outpatient care and inpatient consultation services to a diverse patient population in the pediatric, metabolic, adult, prenatal and cancer genetics clinics at the University of California, Irvine Medical Center and our affiliated hospitals. Division faculty members also participate in didactic and clinical training of genetics residents, genetic counseling graduate students, medical students, and other trainees and provide community outreach. Clinical or translational research participation is possible and encouraged, and there are many possibilities for collaborative research.

Required: ABMGG board-certification or active candidacy in Clinical Genetics and Genomics. Applicants must be qualified for a medical license in the State of California. Preferred qualifications: Interest and experience in diagnosis and management of individuals with adult and pediatric genetic disorders and in prenatal genetic diagnosis or cancer genetics are strongly preferred. Additional board-certification in Medical or Clinical Biochemical Genetics, Laboratory Genetics/Genomics, Clinical Cytogenetics/Genomics, Clinical Molecular Genetics/Genomics, or in another ABMS specialty is beneficial but not required. Spanish language competency is helpful but not required.

About the UC Irvine Division of Genetic and Genomic Medicine: The faculty of the Division of Genetic and Genomic Medicine currently comprises 10 licensed certified genetic counselors and 11 MD or MD/PhD certified clinical geneticists, some of whom are also certified in clinical cytogenetics, medical biochemical genetics, and/or clinical molecular genetics. We are home to one of the first genetic counseling graduate programs and to ACGME-accredited Clinical Genetics and Genomics categorical and combined residency training programs. The Division provides inpatient consultation services and outpatient care in pediatric, cancer, metabolic, prenatal, adult, and specialty genetics clinics at the UC Irvine Medical Center, CHOC Children's, and Miller Children's and Women's Hospital. Division faculty members are actively involved in clinical, translational, and basic science research. U.S. News & World Report has ranked UCI as one of the top 50 U.S. medical schools for research and primary care and has consistently ranked UCI Medical Center among the top 3% of hospitals nationwide.
