Kenyon College, a highly selective, nationally ranked liberal arts college in central Ohio, invites applications for a tenure-track position in Anthropology at the level of Assistant Professor, beginning fall semester of 2023. We seek a broadly-trained cultural anthropologist specializing in medical and/or linguistic anthropology with an excellent teaching record, an active research agenda, and a demonstrated commitment to including students in ongoing research. The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong willingness to work collaboratively with colleagues in International Studies, Environmental Studies, African Diaspora Studies, Asian and Middle East Studies, or Women and Gender Studies. Geographic area is open but an Africanist or Asianist is preferred. Theoretical specialties should complement existing strengths within the Anthropology department. Responsibilities include teaching a 3/2 course load over two semesters in each academic year. The successful candidate will teach one section of Introduction to Cultural Anthropology every semester, upper-level courses in medical and/or linguistic anthropology, and classes associated with their area of specialization. In addition, the successful candidate will contribute to the senior exercise in Anthropology and will be expected to engage with the College’s liberal arts curriculum and with colleagues and students in interdisciplinary programs. Completion of Ph.D. is expected prior to or shortly after the date of hire. Review of applications will begin November1, 2022, and continue until the position is filled.
