Your opportunity:

Central to realizing the School’s vision is the development of quality, high-level external partnerships with corporate sectors to ensure long-term relationships with the top business firms in the world and Canada. The Career Services team provides support to all students across nine program areas to ensure that they are fully supported in their career planning, professional development and job search activities.

As an Industry Advisor, you will be responsible for developing partnerships with new industry contacts as well as managing and expanding relationships of existing corporate partners. You will be a leader in your industry portfolio with a deep understanding of the industry(ies), organizations who make up your portfolio and the various jobs and careers available within these organizations that are suitable for Rotman educated students.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Building and strengthening relationships with stakeholders and partners of strategic importance.
  • Identifying, fostering and maintaining relationships with potential and existing employers.
  • Fostering positive relationships with alumni.
  • Developing plans that support corporate outreach initiatives.
  • Developing plans that support and enhance career services program visibility.
  • Promoting programs and service offerings to internal and/or external contacts.
  • Conducting market research and analysis to uncover employment opportunities.
  • Liaising with contacts to identify opportunities for industry collaborations.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree in a related field (e.g. Human Resources) or acceptable combination of equivalent education and experience.
  • Minimum five years progressively more senior experience in the industry sector(s) of focus in a recruiting, human resources function and/or a line role where a broad understanding of careers, jobs, the business sector and its competitors was gained
  • Experience in coaching, developing strategic business development plans, developing and implementing programs and events, relationship management and project management is required
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a strong emphasis on influencingskills
  • Outstanding organizational ability; ability to work independently, to set priorities and work schedules to meet deadlines
  • Demonstrated decision-making skills in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of coaching, job search skills and presentation skills
  • Outstanding customer service focus essential and an ability to relate well to the highly diverse and demanding communities of students and businesses
  • Knowledge of the international job market and cultural differences which influence career success
  • Must have a good understanding of the graduate business student and employer job market
  • Tact, discretion, sensitivity to confidential matters
  • Able to work effectively with a wide variety of people at different levels of the University and with eternal stakeholders
  • Strong computer skills; good knowledge of MS Office and an understanding of how to use databases effectively
