Multiple Faculty Positions in Mechanical Engineering- UT Austin

The Walker Department of Mechanical Engineering at The University of Texas at Austin seeks applicants for multiple tenure-track positions at the rank of Assistant Professor. Candidates in the following areas of mechanical engineering will be considered. (Candidates are encouraged to view these areas of emphasis in the broadest sense in determining whether they match their research skills and interests.)

  • Advanced manufacturing, including, but not limited to, additive manufacturing, nanomanufacturing, biomanufacturing, and manufacturing of flexible devices with an emphasis on smart manufacturing, including real-time metrology, data analytics, and process control
  • Sustainable energy systems, with an emphasis on design and manufacturing
  • Nuclear and radiation engineering, including:
    • materials in nuclear and space environments
    • radiation interactions/effects in materials and materials survivability
    • chemical engineering and processing of nuclear materials
    • nuclear reactor thermal hydraulics
  • Robotics, including the development of:
    • bio-inspired robotic systems, including soft actuation and sensing
    • autonomous vehicles and transportation systems, including ground, aerial, underwater and/or space vehicles
    • novel control techniques, especially in multi-agent systems, human-centered robotics, and/or human-robot teaming
  • Thermal-fluid sciences, including:
    • climate change and clean energy
    • microelectronics and quantum hardware
    • biomedical instrumentation
    • data sciences
