Departmental Overview

The California Social Welfare Education Center (CalSWEC) is a training and evaluation unit of the University of California at Berkeley's School of Social Welfare. As the nation's largest statewide consortium of social work educators and practitioners, CalSWEC facilitates and supports statewide partnerships for the education and training of social workers to ensure culturally responsive, effective, and high-quality health and social service delivery to the people of California. CalSWEC's work includes pre-service social work education, training, and student support projects, professional in-service training projects, and workforce development-related program evaluation and applied research projects in the arenas of child welfare, behavioral health, and services for aging and vulnerable adults.

The CalSWEC Title IV-E Program operates at 20 schools of social work and provides specialized professional education and monetary support to undergraduate and graduate students who intend to pursue or continue a career in the field of public child welfare.

The goals of the CalSWEC Title IV-E Program are:

To increase the number of public child welfare (PCW) workers in California with BASW and MSW degrees. To prioritize the enrollment of current state/county/Tribal social services staff. To prioritize the enrollment of students who reflect the diversity of California's child welfare population. To provide specific program support through the provision of monetary support to students. To provide specific program support through a specialized competency-based child welfare curriculum.

Responsibilities

Conducts on-going analyses of data sources and data sets. Writes queries, develops report templates, and dashboards for annual reports to funder and partner schools. Consults with internal and external partners to gather and clarify data and reporting needs for the program. Mines data to quantify relationships and identify issues warranting further analysis. Produces reports for partner schools' program implementation fidelity, effectiveness. Presents recommendations to key stakeholders. Reviews annual reports with schools to ensure program implementation fidelity and effectiveness. Conducts industry benchmarking analysis as needed for program development justifications. Reviews and reports on CalSWEC Central data gathering operations. Works with the team to develop and apply functional solutions and/or conducting specific training as needed. Identifies issues and collaborates on developing solution to data management challenges. Serves on internal committees and participates on cross-functional teams to solve business, process, service and/systems issues. Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

Thorough knowledge of advanced evaluation and research methods and functions. Ability to plan, design, and manage complex evaluation projects at a level to evaluate alternate solutions and develop recommendations. Thorough skills associated with statistical analysis. Skills to communicate complex information in a clear and concise manner both verbally and in writing. Strong organizational skills and detail orientation. Demonstrated initiative and follow-through. Ability to assume leadership of assigned projects and tasks and function autonomously. Strong time management skills and demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and respond to requests in a timely manner. Thorough skills in relevant computer applications such as SPSS, Excel, Salesforce, Google Sheets, and word processing and presentation software. Strong presentation skills and comfort with public speaking. Demonstrated experience respectfully, collaboratively, and effectively working with people from diverse backgrounds. Comfort with learning new skills, including new technologies. Bachelor's degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training.

Preferred Qualifications

Knowledge in the applicable campus (Office for the protection of Human Subjects) and US DHHS compliance requirements related to research, evaluation, financial conflict of interest and research ethics. PhD degree or Master's degree in related area with equivalent experience.

Salary & Benefits

This is a 12-month, full-time (40 hours/week), Contract Appointment, eligible for full UC benefits with the possibility of extension. This position is exempt which is paid monthly and annual salary is commensurate with experience within the range of $90,000.00 to $95,000.00.
