SALARY:

 

$69,200-$89,900+ per year the posted salary range represents the minimum to the midpoint within RVU’s compensation plan.   RVU’s full compensation structure provides a minimum to a maximum range.  The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to skill, knowledge, experience, education, and credentials.

RVU offers a full benefits package that includes Health, Dental and Vision insurance, along with 2 weeks accrued paid vacation days per year, 12 accrued sick days per year, personal days, 13 ½ paid holidays and 401(K) match up to 7% based on employee’s contribution. A hybrid work model with remote flexibility is also available for eligible positions.

Primary Purpose

Oversees execution of human resources policies and programs, including recruitment and onboarding, training and career development, employee relations, compensation and benefits. Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, including EEO, FMLA, and FLSA. Assists and provides guidance and consultation to academic and department leaders in the application of HR programs and policies to departmental operations. Assists employees/candidates with questions and/or concerns regarding HR policies and offerings. Comprehensive knowledge of HR concepts and principles. Performs complex tasks typically following established processes. Leads and directs the work of other employees and has authority for personnel decisions. Administers and enhances policies and procedures that impact the University, departmental budgeting, strategic planning, automation and procedural changes. Evaluates human resources processes and strategies to identify improvements and reports findings and suggestions. Adapts departmental plans and priorities to address resource and operational challenges. Ensures human resources strategies align with organizational business goals.

Essential Job Functions
  • Contribute at a high level in leading and building the on-campus components of the HR life cycle with special emphasis on talent management and development, workplace culture, total rewards, compliance, and risk assessment while executing efficiently related administrative work.
  • Advises, monitors and actions RVU’s employment and cultural practices with regard to advancing diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging while preventing discrimination.
  • Prevent, investigate, assist with and resolve employee relation matters including job performance issues regarding conduct, policy or compliance problems.
  • Focus on evidence driven HR including maintaining an accurate HR database, producing telling reports and metrics while providing or communicating research that matters to the situation, problem or business opportunity.
  • Lead and execute the administration of efficient human resource processes while utilizing, leveraging, and integrating technology in key areas including recruitment and onboarding, total rewards including compensation and benefits programs, compliance, off-boarding and related recordkeeping.
  • Effectively promote and lead university-wide HR initiatives including compensation-related program changes, HR policy development and integration, HR technology adoption, and brand/recruitment activities externally.
  • Guide and support leaders in the integration of the Employee Value Proposition for employee engagement to achieve educational and operational outcomes for student success.
  • Support HR Vice President with plans, designs and management and structure of the Human Resources Department, and sets priorities for delivering services effectively.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the VP HR while assisting administration, faculty, and staff in special projects.

  • Participate in community and professional outreach activities on behalf of the college and university.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Provides outstanding customer service and related communication skills including strong interpersonal, written, and listening skills
  • Self-starter using sound judgement and problem solving skills in providing consultative assistance in multiple, employee matters
  • Extensive knowledge of HR department processes.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
  • Knowledge of employment-related state laws, federal regulations, and HR legal compliance requirements
  • Knowledge of and proficient in human resource information systems (HRIS) management and Applicant Tracking Systems
  • Intermediate skill-level working with Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Word and Excel, and Outlook and other software
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in HR or related discipline
  • 4-6 years' Multi-year HR professional experience in educational or business environments demonstrating performance success and individual growth
  • 4-6 years' experience as an HR individual contributor or generalist as well as supervisory experience with demonstrated superior results.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's Degree in Human Resources or related discipline
  • 4-6 years Multi-year Human Resources experience in progressive roles
  • University experience is helpful, especially medical school or allied health driven college
