Job Description Summary / TWC Summary:

JHJ School of Business at Texas Southern University is accepting applications for a Visiting Assistant Professor of Management or Marketing with an Emphasis in Entrepreneurship or Small Business Management who is competent in instructing students. The ideal candidate will possess a terminal degree (Business school PhD or equivalent highly preferred) from the disciplines of Management/Marketing/Entrepreneurship with a focus in Entrepreneurship or Small Business Management from a AACSB accredited university. This is a 9-month visiting position with teaching responsibilities at the undergraduate levels. Graduate level courses will be assigned based on the education and graduate faculty level requirement.

This is a Grant Funded position.

Essential Duties Summary:

  • Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in Entrepreneurship and General Management or Marketing.
  • Conduct research that is presentable at professional academic conferences and acceptable for publication in referred academic journals.
  • Active participation in departmental, school and university committees.
  • Service to one’s profession and the surrounding community.
  • Advise and mentor students.
  • Other job-related duties as assigned.

Hiring Range:

Commensurate with experience.

Education:

PhD, or other equivalent, focused in the area of Entrepreneurship within the disciplines of Management, Marketing, or Entrepreneurship from a AACSB accredited university at time of hire is required. This position is renewed yearly based on performance and funding availability.

Knowledge of:

  • Maintain involvement in appropriate professional organizations.

Work Experience:

Strong educational and industrial experience in the entrepreneurship area is preferred. Previous experience in the development and teaching of university entrepreneurship curricula and/or management of a university entrepreneurship center is strongly preferred.

Working/Environmental Conditions:

  • Prolonged standing and/or walking.
  • Handling light weight objects.
  • Using or carrying equipment.
