Job Details

A.T. Still University's College of Graduate Health Studies (ATSU-CGHS) is seeking an exempt Assistant/Associate Professor of Biostatistics. The position reports to the Department Chair of Public Health. The purpose of the position is to engage in public health instruction with a commitment to excellence in teaching; service to the Department, College, and University; and research that is collaborative and aligns with the mission of the University. The individual will serve as a faculty instructor, a practicum advisor, and an advisor for the planning, design, implementation, and analysis of various projects. The position designs, oversees, implements, and conducts scientific surveys/studies or projects to identify and solve public health/public health dental related problems.

This is a remote position.

Major Job Duties

  • Develop and deliver online courses in the public health department as assigned by the department chair.
  • Serve on departmental, school, and university committees as assigned.
  • Support faculty and students with experience in biostatistics, research planning, design, development, coordination, management, and analysis of various projects.
  • Conduct professional scholarship and service as appropriate.
  • Design, oversee, implement, and conduct scientific surveys/studies or projects to identify and solve public health/public health dental related problems.
  • Provide advice on statistical tools.
  • Prepare scientific articles and technical reports for publication in national and international public health journals.
  • Serve on grants, cooperative agreements, and contracts with responsibility for carrying out required monitoring and assigned duties.

Job Responsibilities

  • Teaching online courses including
    • facilitating student learning through regular interaction with the students
    • developing and leading content expert discussions
    • grading and providing feedback for assignments
    • communicating any student concerns to department chair
    • developing a proficiency in using the online learning management system
  • Serve on departmental, school, and university committees as assigned
  • Professional scholarship and service as appropriate
  • Other duties as assigned by the department chair, Dean, or other institutional administrators

Skills/Requirements

  • Terminal professional degree (public health degree required)
  • Skilled in biostatistics and research, as well as educational technology, such as course delivery systems (Blackboard, Canvas other)
  • Experience in teaching and mentoring students at a post-graduate level
  • Skilled in the development and implementation of instructional media for teaching courses
  • Computer skills, Excel, Word
  • Grant management
  • Ethics
  • Program planning
  • Student centered and able to work with a multitude of different writing levels and personalities
  • Ability to perform duties autonomously with minimal supervision and maintain confidentiality
