Position Description:

The Department of History at Texas State University invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Latina/o/x History with a strong preference for Mexican American / Chicana/o/x History. The successful candidate will be expected to teach both halves of the Mexican American survey, the U.S. History survey, and specialized undergraduate and graduate courses, and to direct theses and participate on graduate committees. Participation in departmental programs, service, and governance is expected. All positions are subject to availability of funds.

Required Qualifications:

  • A Ph.D. in History or related fields, such as American Studies, Latina/o/x Studies, Chicano Studies and/or Ethnic Studies is required by the time of appointment.
  • Candidates should demonstrate an active research agenda, with a record of scholarship, that complements the existing strengths of the department.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Preference will be given to candidates whose research demonstrates a sustained interest in Mexican American / Chicana/o/x History.
  • Texas State University is an emerging research university with an exceptionally diverse undergraduate student body.
