The Department of Family & Community Medicine is recruiting a physician to provide clinical effort at the Timothy Freeman, MD, Center for Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD). The Freeman Center strives to be a national leader in providing specialized, coordinated, patient-centered care to adults with IDD. Ideal applicants would have experience working with adults with IDD.

Essential Functions

• Provide primary care to adults with a variety of intellectual and developmental disabilities including autism, cerebral palsy, Down syndrome, and many rarer syndromes.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team.
• Communicate well with patients with a variety of communication styles.
• Communicate well with caregivers, families, and support staff.
• Communicate with multiple specialists within the health system to coordinate care.
• Document findings, plan, and actions taken according to departmental guidelines and standards.
• Maintain a working knowledge of relevant medical/legal issues that impact on patient care.
• Maintain records and statistics in accordance with department policies.
• Attend and participate in staff, committee, department, and other administrative meetings.
• Participate in department's continuous quality improvement efforts.
• Provide education to other health care professionals..

Minimum Requirements

• Licensed in the State of Ohio prior to start.
• MD or DO in related field.
• Board certified or board eligible in family medicine.
• Active DEA license.
