The Department of Family & Community Medicine is recruiting a physician to provide clinical effort at the Timothy Freeman, MD, Center for Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD). The Freeman Center strives to be a national leader in providing specialized, coordinated, patient-centered care to adults with IDD. Ideal applicants would have experience working with adults with IDD.
Essential Functions- Provide primary care to adults with a variety of intellectual and developmental disabilities including autism, cerebral palsy, Down syndrome, and many rarer syndromes.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary team.
- Communicate well with patients with a variety of communication styles.
- Communicate well with caregivers, families, and support staff.
- Communicate with multiple specialists within the health system to coordinate care.
- Document findings, plan, and actions taken according to departmental guidelines and standards.
- Maintain a working knowledge of relevant medical/legal issues that impact on patient care.
- Maintain records and statistics in accordance with department policies.
- Attend and participate in staff, committee, department, and other administrative meetings.
- Participate in department's continuous quality improvement efforts.
- Provide education to other health care professionals..
- Licensed in the State of Ohio prior to start.
- MD or DO in related field.
- Board certified or board eligible in family medicine.
- Active DEA license.
