TCS Education System is seeking a new Associate Director of Learning Experience Design to join the Instructional Design department.

The Associate Director of Learning Experience Design provides the overall project identification and management for initiatives related to universal design, accessible digital content, badging and micro-credentialing, and user experience as it relates to the academic and professional goals of TCS and its partners. This role also directs the day-to-day activities of Instructional Design Interns and vets third party vendors who offer services in related areas.

The Associate Director reports to the AVP of Instructional Design. This is a remote opportunity with the potential need for domestic travel (up to 20%) to office or campus locations.

Position responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Responsible for digital accessibility and universal design within curriculum across the TCS community. This includes:
    • Plan, manage, and report on all aspects of digital accessibility across our digital ecosystem.
    • Create and implement digital accessibility workflows in an agile way.
    • Ensure the compliance of TCS’s digital accessibility by assisting in assessing the current state; crafting a proposed strategy; and executing, monitoring, and administering relevant policies and procedures.
    • Influence, drive, and socialize TCS’s digital accessibility strategy across stakeholders who strive to deliver inclusive products across digital platforms.
  • Design, implement, and refine user-experience, usability, research and implementation within the TCS community.
  • Collaborate with community stakeholders across TCS to create Student and Learner Personas to support course design and other parts of the student life cycle.
  • Responsible for the research and development of key data analytic and metric needs for Learner Personas and ePortfolios.
  • Propose and support TCS community digital micro-credentialing ecosystem.
  • Influence, drive, and help manage TCS’s micro-credentialing program. Work with stakeholders to generate ideas for badges (including meta data, badge graphics, badge criteria).
  • Work with community stakeholders to design a webpage for micro credentialing: use inspiration from successful programs, e.g., Digital Promise.
  • Advocates and seeks opportunities for Learning Design Experience to strengthen connections throughout TCS Education System.
  • Provides support on course maintenance/development efforts as needed.
  • Responsible for managing instructional design team internship program and projects including hiring interns or supporting solutions through contractors/vendors as needed.
  • Supports other projects and tasks as needed.

  • Ability to evaluate content and learning modalities to determine its appropriateness for target audiences.
  • Ability to read, comprehend, research, analyze and interpret concepts, documents, and data
  • Demonstrated knowledge of instructional design and educational technology best practice in the context of higher ed online and/or blended programming.
  • Demonstrated experience developing online and/or blended programming that creatively leverages new-technologies.

Position Qualifications:
  • 7+ years of experience in instructional design.
  • Bachelor degree required. Master degree preferred. Will consider instructional design certification plus experience in lieu of advanced degree.
  • Technological proficiency in student learning management systems, preferably Canvas, Quality Matters, Acclaim.
  • Previous accessibility software experience
  • Working knowledge Section 504 and 508 WCAG 2.1 standards and guidelines.
