Coordinator, UT Success Academy – First Year Experience

 

About the UT Success Academy

The UT Success Academy is a new approach to maximizing first-year Black and Latinx men’s transition to the Volunteer community and developing their strengths and potential through an innovative four-year customized infrastructure, experiential learning, community building, and transformative experiences, both on and off campus.

The UT Success Academy Coordinator is responsible for developing and expanding transition and belonging initiatives through the UT Success Academy, focusing primarily on the planning, coordination, and assessment of educational and social programs that support over 700 students across four cohorts of the UT Success Academy. This position supports the overall mission of the UT Success Academy and the Division of Student Success and develops, implements, and assesses educational and social programs for students and families of the UT Success Academy.  This position reports to the Director for the UT Success Academy and serves on the UTSA advisory board.

Key Job Functions

    Manage all aspects of educational and social engagements that support departmental transition and belonging goals for first- and second-year scholars in the UT Success Academy.Create and facilitate opportunities for scholars to engage with faculty, staff, alumni, and community partners.Collect and analyze program data to highlight impact in quarterly and annual reports and to guide future engagement opportunities that support the retention of UT Success Academy scholars.Create and manage departmental marketing, including writing and managing weekly newsletters, designing marketing materials/brochures and digital signage, managing website content, and creating and implementing a robust social media plan in partnership with Student Success communications team.Develop desired strengths-based learning outcomes, determine layout and decorations, and create communication plans for UT Success Academy programs.Secure and negotiate fees with vendors/speakers, manage venue reservation processes, and build and manage annual programming budgets.Coordinate and manage programs and initiatives for UT Success Academy parents and families such as the UTSA Summer Welcome, Fall-Kick Off Week, and Family Weekend.Manage and maintain safety protocol and materials for large-scale events.Facilitate weekly First-Year Seminar 101 course.Manage UT Success Academy web-page content.


Qualifications
Required Education & Experience

    Bachelor’s degreeMinimum one year of relevant experience in a college environment (part-time work will be considered at half-time).
Preferred Education & Experience

    Master’s degree in Higher Education, Leadership, Student AffairsDirect experience working with first-generation college students, multicultural students and students from underrepresented and marginalized backgrounds, particularly undergraduate men of color. Event planning and coordination experience
Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

    Ability to meet critical deadlinesAbility to creatively solve problemsAbility to lead and manage a diverse staffAbility to apply sound fiscal management for a variety of fundsAdvanced oral and written communication skillsAbility to administer multiple, deadline driven programs and tasks Demonstrated ability to collect, analyze and assess communications data and impact. Anticipated salary range: $40,000-$42,000
