The Brown University’s School of Engineering has an exciting opportunity for a Communications Specialist.

Major Responsibilities

The Communications Specialist provides high-level coordination of activities for the School of Engineering’s Communications and Events office. The incumbent coordinates and assists with graphic design, photography, social media, websites, and events. This position is the primary graphic designer, photographer, and digital content producer for the School of Engineering, supplying photo and video assets for the magazine, website, and social media. The position will help tell stories through print and digital media to elevate the reputation of the School and ensure consistency in messaging and branding.

Job Qualifications

Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree and/or equivalent work experience required.

3-5 years related experience.

Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, and Illustratator) required.

Knowledge of video editing software, or equivalent photo/video experience required.

Job Competencies

Experience with video captioning preferred.

Familiarity with web content management systems. Experience with web editing (HTML, Drupal) preferred.

Ability to work independently and within a team.

The ability to independently develop and implement short- and long- term goals.

High level of oral and written communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to elicit and communicate information in a clear, informative and concise manner.

Initiative and judgment to independently problem solve and prioritize in a pressured environment.

Strong organizational, administrative and time-management skills, plus meticulous attention to detail.

Strong ability to work with a diverse group of people with confidentiality, tact and diplomacy.

Proficiency with basic image manipulation and graphic design experience with Adobe Photoshop.

Demonstrated experience managing Instagram, Twitter, Facebook and other social media platforms for higher education, business, political or other clients.

Proficient with Microsoft Office, Google Suite, and videoconferencing (Zoom).
